Kris Kristofferson described Steve as "the sweetest, funniest, happiest, brightest spirit I ever ran into...a truly gifted artist, he took such obvious joy in his work and his life that he was a joy to be around. Unlike most of us , he knew he didn't have time to waste on anything but the good stuff. His spirit is a candle in the darkness."

So true Noomz of Earl. Steve seemed like a great guy

@@ListentoFolkMusic - I got to know him a little over a two-day period in 1968 when he came down from Chicago to Champaign, IL to spend the weekend visiting at his former U of Illinois dorm. He stayed in the adjoining room to mine with his former bandmate from high school. We had remarkably similar backgrounds and developed a little running joke about possibly having known each other at some previous time, or even being related. (I was a second-semester freshman at the time and had no prior U of I connection with him. And at that point I had never seen or heard him as a musician.)

@@alanoneill3065 - You're welcome, Alan, and I like your use of the Kris Kristofferson quote. He was definitely "a joy to be around" for the short time that I got to know him

Great quote by Kris, and so true. Kris, John Prine and Steve wereinvolved in their first record contract. And Kris was the only one to give support to Sinead while the bastards showed their pettiness.

This amazing man gives Elvis more respect in that one song than all the 'impersonators' ever do or did. An absolute legend, Steve Goodman.

Wouldn't have been awesome to be old enough to go to this concert. Watches individual. What a awesome individual state? Good in the nest with songwritings. Many people saying his songs God bless America.
