@@AlexOttoI'd say that ciabatta is quite distinct from, say, baguette or ordinary bread. But it's less iconic than tiramisù or the various pasta or pizza varieties. Agreed on the Italian wine. I don't know how it would be substantially different from wines from other countries. I'm not a wine connoisseur but I'll claim that it is not. As for Italian dressing, that one didn't even originate in Italy, but even if it were, I personally wouldn't think that it is the most noteworthy Italian specialty. But what do I know? 😅

Let me start by saying I'm American. I was googling "tiramasu" after watching this episode, and it brought me to trifle as well. I would consider these to be "cake." None of those foods are Italian, all have different origins, for example pasta is Chinese, lasagna is British, pizza is Greek Italians did make it popular though

Laganon, the predecessor to lasagna, is Greek, not British. Flatbreads with toppings predated pizza and was in use by the Greeks and the Egyptians, but Naples was the birthplace of using tomato sauce and cheese on the flatbread - and it's no wonder since the ancient world thought tomatoes to be poisonous due to them being part of the nightshade family.

Ist aber kein Wunder, wenn man in etlichen KZbin Videos sieht, wie in den USA "gekocht" wird, man schütte eine Konservendose von diesem Inhalt und eine andere Konservendose mit etwas anderem daß genauso unapppetitlich aussieht, wie der Inhalt der ersten Dose zusammen in eine Auflaufform, rühre alles durcheinander, gebe etwas Fleisch dazu und viel zu weich gekochte Nudeln, reichlich Käse drüber und ab in den Ofen, bäh 😱
