Steve Wozniak was actually the one that built the first apple and/or Mac and Steve Jobs was mostly a sales person to start with.I think Wozniak didn't get what he deserved from all the hard work he did....But that's my take on it all.

he was also the business mind and salesperson. He understood how to make a business out of it. Without Steve jobs Wozniak would be a relatively unknown engineer doing great inventions that no one knows.

All this shit about "he's made everything," "he single-handedly created the industry," etc. Why do people apparently not know Steve Wozniak existed? No one ever talks about his contributions in these Steve Jobs films, presumably just because he left the company before any of the new-age mobile devices shipped.

I saw this over the weekend, and even though I'm no Apple fanboy, I have yet to see a documentary that does his life (both the good and the bad) justice. There was not one mention of Microsoft, the company was that so interwoven with Apple's decisions and directions. Very little was said about what led up to his dismissal from Apple other than Jobs' comment about hiring the wrong guy (Scully). You can get a more complete picture by watching different documentaries about him, but I guess it would be too long to try and make the "definitive" one.

Beware: This documentary is made by folks who, for whatever reason, dislike Steve Jobs. That means, if you should watch this documentary, what you will see there, is nothing inspiring. It has been chosen and cut and edited in order to show you more of the negative side of Steve. By the way, if you think about it, there are a small percentage of people in the world right now who probably don't like you. If you get more popular, the same perentage will likely hold. (Besides, negativity gets our attention. It works. It triggers our emotions - that's why news media is so negative, full of terror, like Game of Thrones. For some reason negativity gets the attention from most of us, attention which advertisers, for example, will be more than happy to buy.)
@espressothoughts
@espressothoughts 8 жыл бұрын
I found it to be inspiration. It all depends on what you care about more, if you seek value in his business persona then you'll find it inspirational as I did. But if you seek value in his character then it's no wonder you were dissatisfied. The film was great
@juhanwill
@juhanwill 8 жыл бұрын
There were some good parts, in the beginning. But they gradulated it, smoothly and gracefully, to more and more on the negative side. The seond half was bitching and moaning. What you found inspirational, was because you were perhaps able to see it through it - but it was framed so to make him look bad for most folks. THe info was distorted and so forth. Compared to other documentarries, if you want inspiration, that is one of the worst of them for sure. A better one, for example, is the Triumph of The Nerds, for as an example. That is a better one.
@espressothoughts
@espressothoughts 8 жыл бұрын
Yes triumph of the nerds was great but there's always two sides to a coin and I'm glad there's a documentary that didn't sugarcoat his life. I've just finished his biography(Isaacson's) and Jobs himself said he wanted people to know what he was actually like, and for the record all the people he wronged they still respected him as a business genius.
@juhanwill
@juhanwill 8 жыл бұрын
Despite we both agree that Triump of the nerds was great, I partly disagree with your previous comment, and I don't like where you are trying to drive this conversation as you seem to be the kind of person, based on your comments, who doesn't go anywhere in life and just observes the world, and tries to look at what is "realistic", instead of tring to create a better tomorrow of realistic. Let's not continue with this conversation any further.

To be honest I have NEVER really understood all the hype about the Apple-brand, the Apple-products, and all the hype about Steve Jobs. I have tried to use most Apple-products - but I never really found them to be worth the extra cost of +20-30% they cost more, compared to the competitor´s products. However, I know that many people disagree. And I have to say that after watching this documentary, it does not really make me wanna "worship" this man more. On the contrary. I mean - he even pulled the woman that he made pregnant to court, and accused her of fooling around with other men! It should also be mentioned that Jobs has hurt many people on his way to fame. I think that the first example in the documentary is how the US Atari-boss made Jobs & Wozniak finish "Breakout" - on a very short deadline - and it turned out that Jobs kept almost all of the bonus, paid by Atari, and only gave Wozniak a small percentage of this bonus. What is very difficult for me to understand after watching this documentary is: What was the agenda of Steve Jobs? If he cared about his employees, then why did he threaten them, after they resigned from Apple and wanted to work for other companies? He even contacted other companies in "the business" and "ordered" them to not hire those people who left Apple. If he cared about people, why did he make people work under miserable conditions in the factories in China? The documentary shows many other examples that doesnt put Steve Jobs in a very positive light. I dont think that Steve Jobs had much empathy inside him. In my work life I have had bosses too, where I was impressed about what they had accomplished. But many times I have learned that it has had bad consequences for the people who worked under those bosses - just like in this case. Maybe I am overanalyzing. But I think that Steve Jobs wanted to prove to the world that he was good enough. I think he had a BIG complex and many thoughts in his head about how his biological parents "deselected" him when he was a baby - and that was what haunted him through most of his life.

I love Apple products but I'm beginning to believe why many people had a problem with Steve Jobs. In many cases, his team would design and create products, than he takes full credit. Many people who shared about his past state he was selfish and very disrespectful. A company that focuses only on them and not giving back to their community, especially paying taxes... disturbs me a bit. I still love their products but only wish Apple could STOP thinking they're going to rule the world with their goods.
@absoluteacw
@absoluteacw 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, I found the more successful Apple became that they began to appear disturbing in aspects especially in regards to the factories and the trading side of the business. Jobs was a ceo rock star if want for a better word. He reinvented the phone and what people used it for. I think there is a tendency for some people to make him this gargantuan figure. Much achieved by him and yet some parts lost along the way it feels. His passing too early.

I have to say these who make documentaries, movies, books about Steve are lazy. They are living in the comfort zone, and seeking what makes a great person great. Steve told people in the world after him to pursue their potential and vision, and to focus on what really matters. His story should be about the future rather the past.

He sold colorful computers that were over priced and under powered compared to the PC market at the time. I still laugh at people who by Apple products because to me its like saying i know nothing about computers but doesn't it look cute.

One difference: Jobs was an asshole. Michael was always nice, kind, respectful and humble. Just ask the people who worked with these "geniuses".
