This is GREAT! I'm Canadian eh, and I remember when David Roberts won a radio songwriting contest here in Toronto, and they sent him to LA to make this record.....This was being recorded during the day, while TOTO was recording their "IV" album at night. When I first heard some of the tracks on this album on Canadian radio in '82, it was my first real exposure to Luke's playing, and I loved it! Great memories from that time period..... I remember meeting Luke in 1995, and he laughed when I mentioned this record, and said that it was a really great time period, with great memories for him as well....

....yeah, that's right, great memories for me too. I was a bit sad that David never came up with a second LP, because I thought his Debut was so amazing. But time show that I had show just a bit of patience, since in 2011 (29 Years after "All dressed p") he finally released his 2nd CD which was called "Better late then never" - which shows a great sense of humour. Great CD as well, by the way... Greetings from Germany. Michael

Oh man, such a great tune - such a great record from start to finish.... Thanks for picking this one, Richard. I absolutely love these 80´s tunes. And I personally think Luke´s tone was at the top at that period. Maybe it's just because of all that Mojo since in those days real Musicians were sitting in a room a creating some real M-A-G-I-C. Thanks Richard.

Thanks Tom! I agree re: Luke's tone - this is one of my favourite periods too. I think his sound on "Breakdown Dead Ahead" by Boz Scaggs is one of my favourite ever!

@@RichardWatson Hi Rich. Yeah, that's right, the Boz Scaggs Things are great. Question: What is your favorite Lukather Part? Please share your first thought which is coming to your mind... If I would be asked for an answer, today (tomorrow my answer would likely be different !!!)I would say it's Randy Goodrum´s "I took a chance" from his "Caretaker of Dreams" Album. Fantastic Solos, very melodic and a great great Tone = absolutely 100% Luke. By the way, these days I recognized that I still miss Jeff Porcaro heavily. I started my Interest in music as a Drummer, failed greatly (!) but love Drums...and Porcaro was and still is the One for me. Best Greetings from Germany. Michael

Great job! Unrelated question. Do you think the DGT is as versatile as the Tyler?
@RichardWatson
@RichardWatson 2 жыл бұрын
In a word, yes! For me, perhaps even slightly more so, seeing as I can get neck humbucker stuff happening too. The DGT also has the best split coil tones I've come across. I'm also, personally, more comfortable with the scale length of the DGT. But the Tyler is just a vibe machine!

How comfortable is the neck carve on the DGT for players with smaller hands? My Custom 24 is a pattern thin which I find very comfortable. I’m curious the difference in the DGT? And yes, fantastic playing. I’m loving your channel.
