I'm having an anxiety about having a dog after this video

This is all well and good but what if you have three young kids, homework, house chores, both parents having to work and no support network. There’s none of this tiny little slivers, slowly slowly, business. If you worked from your home, on your own/with partner, nothing else to do. Fine. Different situations. There must be ways to resolve with busy large families that work.

there is not quick fix to dog training unfortunately. You have to put the time and effort in

If you don't have the time.. you shouldn't have a dog.... they need time and effort!!

Don't have a dog then. I'm on my own and I have a puppy. They are very hard work if you want them trained properly. If you haven't got time for a dog as a family they don't have one because you're not the right person to have one.

Youre teaching A new behaviour and trying to stop a fear - you need to have time for your dog or make better choices.

After reaching out for a behaviourist , she told me not to throw the ball for Grace prior to being left alone as this raises adrenalin which stays with a Dog for hours afterwards . Her anxiety is still there but not as bad .

Cuddle your dog...this increases oxytocin which offsets cortisol.

It's the worst thing about some people who have dogs, they just whinge and wine whenever they're not directly on someones feet.

doesn't help if you have to work 8 hours a day

In which case, you shouldn't have a dog.

Why have a dog then. You are being cruel!

@@Debhosking what nonsense! I had perfectly happy and healthy dog for 17 years alongside a full time career.

@@eleonorakihlberg5937The fact that you use the word "nonsense" in relation to your support for leaving dogs on their own for long periods speaks for the kind of person you are. They are pack animals. You are speaking for yourself, not your dog. He/she had no choice and had to adjust to the only kind of life you offered. Expert advice has always been that they shouldn't be left on their own for long periods - let alone all day every day of the week. I'm not speaking from opinion; it's a fact. Don't bother commenting further. I won't be responding.
