The whole show could've been nothing but these two roasting the shit out of each other, and it still would've been one of the best shows in the history of SNL. Legends!!! I love that Selena has come to be so close to these guys. What an oddball trio.

@@mikecantreed I've seen multiple interviews and discussions with the three of them, it's not a put-on. Selena is genuinely funny, and Martin and Short are some of the only people in the business that actually took notice, and worked her into something other than the "pop icon/sex symbol" stereotype that she had been shoehorned into. She travels with them on tours that she has nothing to do with just to be in the crowd and hang out with them off-stage. The three of them are friends. They look out for each other.

Short's biting satirical wit and Martin's polymathic abilities & standup skills make them gods in the industry. Jiminy Glick might be one of the best satirical creations of our modern era. "Born Standing Up" is practically required reading within the standup community. Not to mention they also made "Three Amigos". #legends.

I saw these 2 on Fallon and wondered how old they both are now. Wow. Was not prepared! Steve Martin is 77 and Martin Short, 72. Humor keeps you young 😉

Martin Short is so underrated. I always thought his SNL tenure was meh. But as soon as he was doing movies and other projects is when I really started to appreciate his comedy. His interviews are always sharp and witty. I have no doubt that he can roast w / the best of em. That eulogy and delivery was masterful. 😂

The only reason Martin Short's SNL tenure was meh was because, at the time (mid-1980s), NBC was ready to pull the plug on this show. Plus, Martin Short at that time came off SCTV and SCTV (even during its later seasons) was just a better-written show than SNL.

@@canaisyoung3601 All of those events are true but if I were a comedian, I’m not going to choose to not be funny because the show was under scrutiny or that my last show was better. I think Short didn’t hit his stride as a comedian until after SNL. Same goes for Martin, Spade, Rock, Sandler, Morgan. None of the above could carry the show back then but are all masters of their craft now.
