As amazing as these are Sonor has even surpassed these-while the rest of the drum companies are still trying to catch up to what they were doing 30 years ago. Sonor for life!
@CymbalsOnly Жыл бұрын
Sonor has absolutely NOT surpassed these. I ordered an sq2 in an identical configuration to my main lite kit purchased new in ‘91- same everything as much as was possible. Tuned and tested side by side. I sold the sq2, and kept my lites. There was no comparison. The lites were far better in tone in every tuning range….and that’s not even talking about the snares, which are on a completely different level, eh?

@CymbalsOnly I'll take your word for it period. But I was just judging based on sound samples I've heard of both new and vintage Sonor kits here on KZbin. I'll admit that is insufficient evidence to make such a bold proclamation. But this was a few years ago.

There's something about the Tom depths that was magical. The sound was perfect. I have a set of S Classix but they don't sound like those Lites. Only way to get that sound now is to go the SQ2 route.

Nice playing! I bought my Sonorlite Scandinavian Birch snare in the early 80's, I'm still using it. LOVE IT! But, is there anyone that knows where to find spare parts for the snare mechanism? The metal plate and pin where the snare mat cord is resting has been warped. I've contacted the factory in Aue, Germany. They didn't have any parts left... Please, if anyone can help me. Keep on groovin'!

go to stdrums.com and contact them. It´s a good place for anything Sonor related, they might be able to help you.

I owned a set of these for 25 years. I had 22" + 20" kicks with 8", 10", 12" (x2), 13", 14" racks (I really wanted the 14" floor), 15" and 16" floors. And 14" / 7 1/4" snare. Then I sold the lot to a friend in order to buy Sonor's Vintage Series in 22" + 18" kicks with 10", 12" racks and 14" + 16" floors. Now I'm back looking at videos of Sonorlites. I wonder why that is....

Before DW Drums, this and Yamaha Recording Customs were some of the best drums on the market. How time has changed.....
@seppoinnanen55773 жыл бұрын
DW drums are very well made pieces of art, but their ongoing quest for the lowest possible note makes the drums sound slow. And usually, in a band context, that low fundamental has a danger of turning into mud. But we all have do have our own preferences about the good sound, naturally
