This is from what I always refer to is the middle period of Steve Miller’s career. A very lucrative and profitable period for him. Made him a legend when everything he recorded turned to gold. His early psychedelic/space cowboy period featured his childhood friend on rhythm guitar. That was Boz Scaggs.
@paulinwoburn96803 жыл бұрын
I think his songs from his early period were much better than his Fly Like an Eagle period. Maybe it's because they played the hell out of these songs. Check out the Steve Miller Band Anthology, 1968--1972 album. Every song is top notch and he's playing with musicians Nicky Hopkins, Lee Michael's, Bob Scaggs, and Richard Thompson. I think he also did a song with Duane Allman. He was and still is a great musician.

This is ok but the studio version is just so iconic for me I kind of feel somethings missing.

I saw Steve Miller Band in concert 3 or 4 years ago, and he said Les Paul was his godfather and taught him how to play. He said he was playing in bars when he was 12 and his Mom had to drive him to the gigs. He put on a great show. I never got to see him in the 70's, always wanted to.

ALWAYS LISTEN TO THE STUDIO VERSION FIRST ... LIVE CUTS HAVE TOO MUCH BS(OPINION) IN THEM!

Totally disagree! Always live, seldom bother with studio 🤷🏼♀️✌️🙂

The Midnight Special was so great. I was young I the 70s but my older siblings would stay up and watch so I would sneak out of bed to watch as well. So many great performances on there.
