People have mentioned how good the story is but I also wanna point out how Steve's past is much longer and lasts a couple of months (because the seasons changed) while Alex's past was about a week long. It's a nice idea to show how Steve was introduced at the start of Minecraft and that's why he's had more time to master redstone contraptions and traps. Alex is relatively new to the game so she's more focused on advanced combat which was introduced later on in the game. I feel like it's a very nice touch.
@dostroyer123 Жыл бұрын
late reply I know but I want to say based on how many times they changed I want to say at the bare minimal shown in the video it possibly could have been 8months to a single year shown and that's not even including how many days, weeks, or even months were skipped for all we know each season show except for spring could have been a year possibly longer

This reminds me of that one video I watched a while back. Steve is in some technicality a god. He has immense knowledge and is capable of making items out of thousands of recipes and is a mastermind when it comes to complex contraptions, while also having the ability to shape the very earth however he wants to. But the underlying thing about having that power and knowledge is not being able to share and experience it with anyone. I remember a quote that stuck with me from that video: "Complete power, in exchange for complete loneliness" It's a quote that really makes you think how lonely singleplayer Minecraft can be. I also like this channel's depiction of what kind of characters these two are. Steve is more focused on automation and contraptions, while Alex is willing to put more muscle into it rather than brains (I don't mean that in a way that she's stupid, but in a way that it shows their dynamic and how well they work together. Steve is the brains, and Alex is the brawn). Also sorry if some parts sound weirdly worded, english isn't my first language lol

Even if he went into insanity, this is so touching to watch because half of what he does to Alex now all makes sense. Yes, he's a prankster with a lack of realization as to where the extent should go, but he was under so much isolation prior that he basically forgot that part of life. And he doesn't outright kill Alex for the most part, minus an explosion here and there, but mostly it's fun and games from the sense of someone who essentially lost their way

4:48 This one shot just proves how lonely and delusional Steve has really become. He's nearing his breaking point. He had just lost the only thing that made him happy: a friend. He seems really hopeless and depressed, and he's undergoing a downward spiral that's slowly driven him insane the moment he realized his loneliness. Everything seems lost for him, that is until he finds Alex. At 5:17, Steve looks devastated and in complete awe once he realizes he isn't alone. Once he tears up, he's undergoing such joy and relief and true happiness that he's found someone to keep him company. Steve's insanity never really goes away after this however, as he can still be seen pulling off tortuous and unbelievable pranks on Alex in future chronological episodes. But it seems like Steve does have a soft spot for Alex, not just because she's the only thing keeping him slightly sane, but also because they are both in a world where danger is around every corner. Steve may be delusional, but he could be empathetic deep down, and the main reason it's not usually seen is because months upon months of loneliness and sadness can really change a man's mind.

Now we see why Steve was so crazy, he thought he was all alone, brilliant mind when it came to building stuff and getting the mechanics all mastered, but nobody to share that brilliance with, nobody to share in your joy, and when he made a companion, only for it to come apart because it wasn't a real person was heartbreaking. That isolation and feeling of lonliness can really break you... When Steve found Alex, you can tell he felt like he was no longer alone. He was actually feeling joy in knowing someone sentient was in the world, and he tended to her to get her back on her feet. I hope a romance subplot starts real soon, and we see them really connect.

I can only imagine the shock, disbelief, but more importantly, the joy and happiness Steve must've been feeling when he first saw Alex. For the first time in who knows how long. He finally found another person in what was basically a barren world. Last video made me think that a part of the reason Steve picked on her was because he was training her to survive the harsh world of Minecraft. And while I still believe that's likely part of the reason. Now, I see he does it because he just desperately wants someone to interact with him. This was a great video and story telling. Another wonderful piece, Siipaeja! Honestly, the way you wrote how fragile his mindset makes him really...*human*. I am sure we've been told this enough to get tired of hearing it, but humans are social creatures- we thrive on interaction with eachother, with friends, or family. When we're alone, truly alone, no-one for leagues across? our minds are INCREDIBLY fragile. In Isolation, You start trying to cope by keeping busy, you start counting days, you start searching for others, you try to make friends yourself- Questions begin to cloud your thoughts, as YOU are the only person you can talk to, and you start wondering 'can I keep going like this?'. Eventually, you begin to break down. Finding Alex was like finding a light at the end of the tunnel- 'I am not Alone'. That would be enough to keep you going.

Another masterpiece seeing Steve past mixing with Alex's own is perfect in it's own way. At least Alex saved Steve from insanity just by her surviving for so long by herself and having the will power to surviving in the cave. May the potential romance between these two flourish in a future episode.

Even tbh I am an animal lover and the animation had somewhat animal abuse and killing of them, i just didn't mind of all that shit cuz i was saddened that steve had to live alone in an infinite world and the only partner he had, The Snowman, that too died in the rain.

A perfect duo. Their strengh is also their weakness: Alex is really strong and have impressive fight skills but is constantly wounded and near dead. Steve have a lot of knowledge and experiment but is also mentally fragile and both need each other to survive. Alex would be dead with her skills alone and Steve would have turn mad without Alex's presence.

It's interesting how Alex and Steve respectively have their own innate skills and knowledge, from the beginning of their incarnations. Whether or not it's explored, it makes one wonder: Did they have lives before and were transported into Minecraft, or were they really created with innate knowledge as I said earlier?

Looking back, all of traps and tortures were only stuffs entertained Steve while he was alone to keep a bit of his sanity, and with no one to socialize, he ended up thinking it was normal to torture as he wanted to do what he enjoyed with his new friend, Alex, as an act of desperation to not lose Alex, so it may or may not also wanting to train her to keep alive in a world where there are hostile mobs wanting to kill her. He had gone almost insane from isolation after all, so obviously, his traps were eventually lethal later in the video as he slowly breaking his limits. I wonder if Alex thought it was training for her and never tell Steve to stop with the traps.

This is pretty much how playing Minecraft alone is. Doing what you can to stave off boredom and trying to prevent insanity. Doing what you can, just trying to keep active and find purpose. But playing with others is a purpose in it of itself. Doing things together, even with one other person, can prevent insanity as more possibilities for activities and encounters become possible, and achieving something actually means something when you have someone to show it to. Steve couldn't ask for a happier life now that he has Alex with him. And the two can now spend their days in Minecraft together, building, crafting, fighting, and all around having fun together.

Dude I was just excited to see Steve back when he was a hard worker before he mastered everything, but no he was a trickster god from day one, but I really didn't expect to see him go through a depressing existential crisis over being the only sentient being in his universe and being effectively entirely alone
@thorveim1174 Жыл бұрын
gotta love his start was the exact same as Alex, from the pain of punching wood to meeting zombies... but he dug down instead of running away. And since the game messed with him with the bunny and berries, he went to automation to deal with these issues.. and eventually distracted himself through trolling the wildlife as an evolution of this. Alex on the other hand, never got to automate anything, she was too busy struggling just to stay alive at all.
