EXACTLY!! Your analysis is spot-on! It's not about who's the better singer. It's about the the roles they took. Perry built the band from the ground, but left for whatever reason. Then briefly came Augeri and Sotto to retart. Arnel came and stayed for 15 years. He helped increase their fan base, bringing in at least 2 generations and untapped European and Asian countries. It's worth celebrating 50 years of their existence! It would be great if Perry attends, but frankly, it will be his loss not to.

To be fair Augeri's time in the band wasn't brief . He was in the band for about 8 years . Soto was the only one who wasn't in the band very long .

I am so happy that you made this. This is a message of positivity, it seems that Steve and Arnel truly appreciate each other and have a big respect for each other. Arnel brings an energy to the live performances that no other band of 50 years could ever have, he refers to himself as the messenger and Steve as the voice, there has never been a rivalry of any sort. It breaks my heart when people put out mean messages towards Arnel. A duet with Steve and Arnel? A dream that I hope one day comes true. Thank you so much for this positive take on this band we love. You stated exactly what “most” Journey fans believe. It’s all about us still experiencing their music, live, after all these years. Arnel made that possible. Steve Perry set the bar so high that not a lot of singers can even get close to that standard. Arnel came close enough, so as a fan of Journey music and legacy, that’s good enough for me. This particular topic is so important as you have given great insights on why Steve Perry and Arnel Pineda can coexist within the legacy of Journey most especially for celebrating their 50th Anniversary as their popularity still soars! Love both of them, SP for creating/singing such great /hit songs of Journey and Arnel Pineda for continuing the legacy, doing wonderfully well by carrying the torch that SP has started with Journey.SP thanks AP for his role in Journey ( as per SP's speech about AP, on R, Hall of Fame 2017)both frontman respect each other, and it is sad to see that there were still bashers around AP wherein SP could not play the role as a frontman doing Concert LIVE Tours for whatever reason. It is very important to note that if there are NO successful shows/Concerts around, the songs fade away along with the band! AND YES you are absolutely right! An interesting perspective. The RRHOF proved that Steve Perry loved his time in Journey and was appreciative of the success and of the music he made with his bandmates. He also did a shout out to Arnel and has always spoken very highly of Arnel in every interview I have listened to. A class act all the way. IT doesn't matter if Steve decides to perform or not, his vocals and songwriting capabilities made Journey a success in the late 70's and 80's and for a brief time in the 90's ( Trial by Fire & a Grammy nomination for WYLAW) . When you hear Journey on the radio, it's the songs from Steve's time with the band. But the band and Steve have moved on and its all good. Journey's 50th Anniversary is certainly something to celebrate and all the singers and former band members should be recognized and join in ( if they wish).

We can understand the subjective choice of each fans in the subject who's better. But yeah you're correct, it's all about journey music the fact that AP keep the band going thats all that matters. But that doesn't mean SP must not be acknowledged his contribution why journey is great. Both of then are great on their own right.

Steve has made it clear he is no it interested in rejoining the band in any scenario. He knows that his inability to perform the songs anywhere close to the way they were performed when his voice helped make them hits, will tarnish the memory and the legacy of his incredible voice because any performance of any journey song, no matter how tuned down they are, will reveal how degraded his voice has become and will forever be remembered as his final performances of the songs and they will not be flattering to someone who's voice is thought of as one of the greatest of all time. A reunion of Journey that includes SP in any capacity will never happen. It would just be sad and disappointing to everyone , including Steve. The anticipation and built up joy of finally getting to finally witness a Steve Perry fronted Journey would instantly be crushed as soon as he attempted the first note and revealed just how limited his range has become. Steve knows this andis wise to not do anything that would negatively affect the way he wants to be remembered.

I would love to see Steve Perry perform with Journey on their 50th, but I don't think that he will. Steve is getting up there in years and he is doing his own thing and happy where he is in life. I know Steve's fans would like to see it happen, but don't hold your breath waiting, as I don't think Steve Perry will honor us with his presence at a 50th with Journey.

I Sort of Agree with Jp Green...Been way too long ....water under and over the bridge 😳...( my opinion) 🤔..Steve could sing two songs with Arnel and the band but as been said... in reality neither he nor "the band" need please anyone it would just be "Cool" if steve could do a. " competitive performance" with Arnel where Steve would be the obvious winner and Arnel play into that..🤔( it would be cool and the fans would love it!!) They can co-exist for anyone interested in it. For me they don't co-exisit because no one can replace Steve Perry. I have no interest in listening to Journey live without Steve. But for those that can, then that's good for them. I just have no interest in a band that is no longer original. Different strokes for different folks. But what Journey has done has probably eliminated Steve from ever appearing with Journey ever again.... And for that it feels like orginal fans are cheated of that ....
