Every time I watch this video I’m in awe, it humbles me, and I learn something new.

I knew Steve in high school. As far as I recall, he was a world champ back then, but you'd never know it. A humble, good guy, and a straight shooter. It's so great he was able to devote his life to the sport he loved from such a young age. I wonder if he still plays the trumpet?

Nearly 48K views at the time of writing, of which I've probably added at least 20 over the five years since it was released! I keep coming back to it as it's always useful to go back to the fundamentals.

I am glad that he clears up the confusion about the stop. We tell students that the stop is a "hard stop" or a "positive stop," implying that a vector force needs to be applied in reverse direction or that somehow the rod would continue to move forward if we stopped applying a forward vector force. But that is not true. Rajeff states, correctly, that the grip tightens through the power stroke and that the "stop" consists in simply loosening the grip and not moving the rod forward any further with power. A very simple concept.

Uhm, i think you meant to write "dont" instead of "do" close to the end there buddy. Sorry to be a grammar police, but it fucks up the whole sentence.

What a load of rubbish. His line hitting the grass. Next is line splash on water. You lift the line up off the water. And flick. Up to 12 o'clock rod will drift back a little. Gravity will help bring the line forwards. It's a gentle push forwards. To lie the line soft on water. He's a slasher. Gentle art of fly fishing. Let's see him bend the tip around a fallen tree. Line straight on water and tip bending around a rock. Watch gary borg.

Imagine that load of rubbish wins more world casting championship than anyone alive.... so who do you think you are?

You not a smart man. Yes I beat a 10 times world fly fishermen and a minister of natural resources of Tasmania. Stuck up men like you can not under stand simple physics. Gravity helps fly line. No one can beat nature that's facts. You one that lifts fly line up on forward then when it's at your back you lift it again. While I use nature. That facts. For who I am is a fisherman and buy you saying your a world camp only say it all. Well I hope you stand there selling you b.s.. you have a good life. Ps Jack Dennis said to me come and fish with me as a mate. That says it all.

Ps I sent a full load of a b.s. fly club who used to knock a old fellow call bill who been going to new zealand for 10years and never caught a fish. They with the smart mouths went out to catch a 5kg fibreglass trout with the world biggest rag fly. While I cooked bill a lovely breakfast and with the aid of two lovely retired dairy farmers in the late 90,s watch bill caught a lovely 3ld trout. And yes there where world camps in that group. Your one of them fools.

Like any sport. Many people are pushed away buy people who think themselves the best. I bet you there some kid out there that would beat the pants off you. World championships mean nothing. You forgotten. It's the gentle art. Not look at me the old fart. It's the man that holds the hand of a child. It the old soldier that teaches the young man. Who got more time for anyone who willing to listen. Not a man who stands at a casting pool who makes money. Who do you think you are.

Oh rusty..... so sad...you should have to been there in person! He can try lay out a needle point line that gently flutters and gently sits down on the water. The upper and lower leg of his cast are beautifully flowing and perfectly straight. Without waves......! I don't mean to be rude.....but were you there...? For having never witnessed Mr. Rajeff in person,......you have alot to say......! He has demonstrated curved casts many times. The very "depth" of what he is sharing in this video is brilliant mastery! I was in Saint Louis in the early 70's and watched Steve win the world championship casting competition. There were competitors from Japan, South Africa, Europe, people from all over. He took first place in every event. His flycasting was clearly superior by far to all others. He even beat the bass fisherman in bait and spin casting accuracy competition. From the New York Times dated August 10, 2010 . The Times reported that Mr. Steve Rajeff broke his own national record during a measured competion(truly verified) with a "single hand" fly cast of 242'. This broke "his" previous record which had stood for 20 years of 236'. Rusty, in your ...ah, discusion.....you kept writing about physics and facts.....! So my facts are that I was there, and a true witness! As they say, "you can Google it"! To be fair, I have never witnessed your flycasting....! So to be fair .....I have completely no comment on you flycasting abilities.....!! Please feel free to post a video......we could engage in further discussions......😊 Mr Steve Rajeff is highly sought after for casting demonstrations. He is also the chief rod designer for the G Loomis rod company. Loomis fly rods are recognized one of the best, if not thee best fly rods in the world! I have 2 recommendations for you rusty. Come to an actual flycasting event featuring Mr. Rajeff. And purchase Loomis flyrod. You will love it! just jim
