22 years, following this man. Originally discovered him maybe even farther back on SOMA.fm I don't know what I would have done without him.

I am your long time fan since I was a teenager back in the 90s in China. I am so lucky I am able to enjoy such amazing sound art. I remember the first album i listened to is “the magnificent void”. I immediately fall in love with it and shocked about how this genius guy come up with such kind of beautiful sound.

Steve Roach, a great American composer, a man from another continent, writes music inspired by the landscapes and cultures of distant countries and continents, while his compositions harmoniously fit, in particular, into my personal spaces, my favorite landscapes and my Euro-Asian mentality. This kind of instrumental music is absolutely universal.

It was a day out of time and Steve's sound sanctuary took all of us in, like living a collective dream. The Peripheral listening appeared as Steve became the instrument. That defining moment for 1.5 hours was the hallmark of witnessing so many doors opening to possibilities. A magic mercurial flow emerged like a long breathe of fresh air into something life giving. Steve many thanks for the sound shaman that you are, a first responder to returning us to a place where soul land activates us with new life dreaming into the slow heat of your performance. The future was flowing into every organ of perception.

Steve's new release Tomorrow is an amazing journey in preparation for everything the future needs from us this moment. When Steve brought us into Heartbreath in the concert, time stood still, as if to begin something anew, like a signal from the future before it fully is arriving. Steve's work is made for many uses, but perhaps the most influential is the opening of perceptions---to see more, feel more into what we can see, as the sound signal teaches us to stay curious, stay longer, listen deeper, as if to bump into new possibilities that await our gaze as we move further into the space. It's as if the space knows who we are more than we do. And yet, tomorrow is a blank slate, it is to know the path by walking toward it, with profound humility, openness and a gentle spirit, much like Steve's orientation to inhabit what must get expressed through him as it is desired. Steve's Tomorrow is the perfect companion for the journey, a softer edge to stepping into the gateway where silence speaks and structure emerges, and life creates life.
