I can watch this man all day- he’s a great teacher. He’s one guy you don’t wanna confront- hes an 8° black belt.

Its so funny to watch old clips from the 1970's and 1980's on this silly stuff. Today we know that this is not realistic but it entertaining to watch.

this things are great, but the problem i see with hapkido is that wrist grabs and belt grabs are not that common really. I mostly see defenses for grabs in Hapkido. But in a street fight, people not really grab your wrist or belts that often....it's more trying to punch you or shove you or take you down

Guillermo Del Solar at first the glance they are odd attacks. I could see the belt grabs being applicable for law enforcement firearm attention. Outside of that, it'd take some thought and practice to determine more realistic applications.

Guillermo, as a hapkidoin you should be able to defend yourself from any grab, no matter how big is your attacker, but there are also a lot of kicks, punches, throws, and escapes when you go to the ground (and just a little of ground fighting). Even though I have used wrist grabs (never a belt grab) in real situations, when the fight starts they are almost impossible to use, so one has to use the other techniques.

A belt grab could be many things, like trying to take a cops weapon or taking a wallet or purse or even grabbing the groin. Wrist grabs happen more than you think but they too can represent many different types of attack. For example if i dig my thumb into your eye or grab your balls and you try to remove my hand by grabbing it.

You are not gonna be grabbed by a belt or wrist in a self defense situation.
