Sounds like Alcatraz. Change of pace from Steve's usual, unusual style. Like an 80s movie soundtrack. He has always been able to switch from one style to another so well. Still impressive, to say the least.

Yeah, not that a lot of the new stuff is not fantastic as well, Henson, Wong, Vai and all the others do deliver pretty great contemporary music as well even when it is usually not this kind of hard driving rock. Must be a fun timeline in which we got 10 Albums with Vai and Gash together, I miss the guy without ever knowing him. His voice works really well with Steve's riffs.

Johnny came up and introduced himself to me and a friend in Hermosa Beach probably around '91. My buddy was plunking my unplugged, crappy Strat knockoff outside the gym. He was a character for sure, energetic and funny. Having grown up in Brooklyn/Long Island he was like a lot of my friends, salt of the earth type. We got a kick out of Steve playing at his service in the Catholic church since he had played that part in Cross Roads. This song is great. Thanks Steve Vai for putting it out.

He is a chef, restaurateur and hospitality guru. Solid guy and down to earth, seemingly like this musician from another world. I can only imagine their childhood was full of support. My all time favourite tune was always "For the Love of God" to the point I shushed 2 guys yapping behind me at Massey Hall in Toronto so I could hear every note.
