I've heard him say that he keeps a bassist and a drummer in Germany because he's got a legion of listeners in Europe; and he has, depending on their more steady careers, several drummers and bassists here in the States for the same reason. I remember seeing him in 1979 in Natasha's Pavilion in Bremerton, WA (an hour long ferry boat ride from Seattle) when he was releasing "Champagne And Cocaine." That album still smokes like the Marlboro Man. I have to say "Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush - Live" was second only, in terms of success, to Robin Trower in those times. In terms of holding string and true to the Jimi vibe genre - Randy held the fckn torch high.

Eddie actually looked kind of goofy after you had seen Hansen.

Wow, very interesting. The few clios I’ve seen of Randy, it’s always been entertaining but what really surprised me is how dialed in the guitar tones are here. This reminded me of an Yngwie interview from the late 80’s where he said he liked Vai and how he admired his abilities but thought his guitar sound was muddy. I guess most humbucker guitars would sound muddy next to a Strat but I could barely hear Vai here and Hansen really cut through. Very cool performance from the whole band. Thanks for the post!
@beachcomber4141 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, the strat really did cut through amazingly!!!
@yjmsrv Жыл бұрын
I was going to post nearly the same thing- it's crazy how good a Marshall Plexi and 4x12 with a Strat will cut through the mix so well. Yngwie's G3 performance in Denver highlights that so well too- just phenomenal tone when a Strat is in a Marshall. When Yngwie played notes from backstage- he CRUSHED Joe and Steve's tone- not to slight them- they're savage players- but that tone that Yngwie had is very much like what Randy get's here. Just glorious and cuts through the mix SOOOOO well...

Randy Hansen needs to come back to Phoenix, Arizona, and do it in the wintertime. It's THE time to be here. It's like spring or summer in the rest of the world. Your instruments don't come in from the cold with condensation on them, needing adjustments and setups. It is dry and my hardtail Carvin Bolt Strat copy needs a truss rod tweak. My new USA Fender Strat and I are not bonding. I am thinking a different neck will fix that. My bust (tri-color) Strat & two color burst are still two of the best ever.
