I don't understand how these "guardian helmets" can possibly help stopping the brain from sloshing around in the skull. Maybe I'm wrong, but I just don't get how those things help. 😒😒

It’s the deceleration that causes the injury to the brain. If you have a big puffy helmet on, when you slam into another player, the ground, or whatever, the extra cushion in the helmet will absorb more of the force of the impact thereby slowing the deceleration of your head (and your brain inside your skull). With the slowing of the deceleration, a concussion would then be less severe than without the big puffy helmet.

Great point. I was shocked to learn that boxing headgear does not lessen risk of CTE due to brain rattling around; instead purpose is to prevent facial cuts

@@detroyt232323 - No, I don't. The brain is just floating around in the skull. If you could put the padding INSIDE the skull, yeh' I'd "get it", but it won't stop the brain from sloshing against the skull. It's not the outside that is the issue, it is the inside.

The reaction Tua has does not mean its a worse concussion.. Steve is totally wrong about this. It does look scary, but every body reacts differently

Tua has to retire…. His concussions were the worst.. and now it’s much much easier to get more. It only gets worse for him.

Getting knocked out is a lot better then taking repeated blows. UFC is safer then boxing. Proven fact.

Such a sad story no matter how you slice it. He is a good kid, and I'm an old Bills fan. No one wants to see someone not get up off the field. It could literally kill the whole damn game.

Simple decision - retire. You may have already compromised your health in later years. The consequences of more hits to the head, even if they aren't concussions ate too great. It would be beneficial to visit people in their 40s and 50s with issues from brain trauma. Look at Antonio Brown, he hasn't been right since that hit from Burfict.
