When my son was young in the late 80s or early 90s we stopped at store that had real MREs. My son wanted to try them, so we purchased a few. They were not cheap. I remember telling him they were more than a Happy Meal and no toy. One or two had the cutest little bottles of Tabasco in them, I kept those for years. It was fun to see how soldiers ate. I wonder if my son remembers the experience at all, hope so.

The first thing to notice is the huge size of the packages considering what they contain. The sultanas/raisins are probably a different variety of grape to what get used in the U.S. The Hungarians make some stunning sweet fortified wines called tokays.
@coltm4a186 Жыл бұрын
I gotta try that wine but it sounds expensive
@Your.Uncle.AngMoh Жыл бұрын
@@coltm4a186 A 5- or 6-put Tokaj from Hungary will be expensive, but there will be cheaper ones around. Due to legislation, fortified wines made outside of Hungary can't be called "Tokaj"/"Tokay", but they are basically made the same way. Brown Brothers and a couple of smaller wineries around the Ovens Valley near Millawa in Victoria do very acceptable ones. This area is also a good cheese-producing area, so a couple of days spent sipping and munching at various cellar doors is a good way to spend your holidays.

I don't know what it is, or why these vids are so addictive, I just know I f%^*((% love em. Steve, I have been starving my whole life, and when I see one of your vids come up on my rec list, I push the button. You are the only one that I have subscribed to. Thank you and God Bless my friend.

You get to enjoy your food on your channel Steve. When I have had MRE's or ration packs you have to eat it fast and cold too. Love your channel

Watching you eat the pate made me have to pause it and go get some of my precious chicken pate (pashtet) that I brought back from Macedonia, my favorite.

The tea is probably what we always have in kindergartens in Hungary, for someone hungarian it would probably feel nostalgic and just really a reminder of home and family

I thought you might have died from a bad rancid ration! Good to see some new videos!

The yellow seasoning that you like is called “Vegeta” , it’s made in Croatia , people from Balkans use it in almost everything :) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Podravka

I show up here, OMG reviewing MRE's on KZbin HOW STUPID!!! Now I sit here rocking back and forth STEVE NEW EPISODE PLEASE!!! I've watched them all! Steve does a great job reviewing these and paints a picture of his tastes for all the viewers! Great work! Love the videos!

WOW STEVE! You actually read my suggestion! When i saw the video in my reccomended tab,it just hit me so sudden,and I actually remembered writing the suggestion! This is a new life achievment for me,that’s for sure.It’s great to see that you care about every little fan you have! Surprisingly,despite this ration having some pretty decent stuff in it,Hungarian Defenders don’t like them very much.I tried it once and it was great.

Steve understands it’s the sounds that make the video. The sounds of packages being opened and the liquids being poured. He’s got that mic picking up all the noises.
