I don’t listen to neither Lil Yachty or Steve’s stuff, so I can only confidently say that the line about being insecure and liking what they’re supposed to line was AJR, because that’s such a classic AJRish thing to say and put out there. Also the high melody in the chorus (“I’m a good-pre-te-ya-yen-der”) was probably AJR’s doing as well, because they’re inspiration around this time came from The Beach Boys, also appearing in the chorus of Weak.
