Great information as always. Just a small advice, when turning off the motors, always use the left stick down instead of the combination. From what I learned, this combination to turn the propellers off are only for emergency shutdown :) Another question, the Mini 2 only slides the gimbal up and down? The Air 2 can also move left and right, for those who don't know. Cheers mate, thanks for all the tips. I really hope your channel grows fast, you totally deserve it.
@SteveCoutts3 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much! I just tested left to right and it does not work for the Mini 2. Cheers!

"this combination to turn the propellers off are only for emergency shutdown" Why would this matter? They both turn the drone off.
@agent_ethan3 жыл бұрын
@@michaelm.1947 Its DJI advice. Probably because they run different shutdown instructions for the sensors and system.
@michaelm.19473 жыл бұрын
@@agent_ethan As I usually hand catch (P4A+), I'm used to doing the L-hand off movement. So I was just wondering what was different. Yesterday I had a 360° camera mounted below and landed on a custom platform. In that case, I used the dual-stick method since both hands were free.
@garrettswoodworx18732 жыл бұрын
@@agent_ethan I know this is 6 months later but the context of the emergency shutdown info from DJI is WHILE FLYING. Both methods do exactly the same thing and Steve's comment is related to shutting things down after landing.

I thought when you let go of the sticks on the remote the drone would hover in place. Is the pause button any different than that except for that it overrides return to home if it is on?
@SteveCoutts3 жыл бұрын
Correct. Flight Pause is different because it immediately stops flight regardless of what's happening - full throttle, quick shot, RTH, etc. So, the idea is, at least I think, in a panic or critical situation, you don't have to fumble around touch the correct part of the screen or perform a joystick action. Eyes on the drone, muscle memory kicks in and you hit flight pause and the drone stops. I think it's most useful for automated flight where I can watch the drone and keep my thumb hovered over flight pause for when my "dronie" QuickShot is heading right in to a tree. I believe touching either stick will stop a QuickShot too but I like the idea of drilling one action in my head for those times when I don't have time to think. Cheers!

Thanks for the info. I have a mini 1. Are the sticks on the controller easier to operate on the mini 2? That is my biggest disappointment with the mini compared to my Phantom 4. The controls are stiff and very hard to control smoothly. It’s like trying to draw a circle with an Etch-a-Sketch. It’s almost impossible to smoothly turn while changing altitude or moving forward or back.
@SteveCoutts3 жыл бұрын
I went from the Spark to the Mini 1. I found that the Mini 1's controller was definitely not of the same quality. From the Mini 1 to the Mini 2, the quality of the controller and its controls have definitely been improved. It was one of the first things I noticed going from the M1 to M2, the smoothness of the new remote. Cheers!

Thinking I discovered all things about the mini 2, you really surprised me with the additional information you provided. I saved the video to watch after downloading and will make notes on many things you have mentioned for a more informed pilot. I am very thankful to you for all this, Ray C Florida. I was flying my Mavic 2 Pro one day and touched the screen to find out the camera can look sideways when in flight forward and not turning the drone. I've just got mine as well, I've run out of the fly more package a rubber of times. I've learnt just today how to use the high speed fpv turning using both controls. I have built a little low altitude course for it. I'm flying the course in normal now at speed smoothly, next to have the confidence to fly long distance.

Thanks for watching Floris! If you're new to drone flying I did a video for new drone pilots that you may find helpful - kzbin.info/www/bejne/qnbMhmeHgNGnd5Y. Best of luck with your SE! Cheers!

Only my 2nd video watched on drones. I was impressed from the outset. And then reading about 20 of the comments below, it is obvious that knowledgeable and experienced drone operators had a unanimous opinion. I will subscribe and learn from from you, Steve Coutts!

I know the mini 2 is not a new drone but I've literally just ordered one,can't wait to fly it...this looks like an awesome drone for the price...thanks for the tips

Thanks for watching! I some respects I like the Mini 2 more than the newer and WAY more expensive Mini 3 Pro. The Mini 2 is a very solid, reliable and capable drone that is tough to beat at that price. Best of luck with it and happy, safe flying! Cheers!

Thank you Steve for these useful informations, which are difficult to find anywhere else. In particular, before purchasing a Mini 2 I needed to know whether it is possible to have GPS coordinates embedded in the video. It is not said in the DJI manual I downloaded. Now I know!

Thanks very much. I never knew that about the 4:3 photo ratio, and I didn't know about the gimbal extended upper view. Thanks!
