Fitting T6 Rear Spoiler - Driveway DIY

Installing a Sportline T6 rear spoiler onto my project van.
I don't make tutorial videos, we are talking driveway DIY here :-) so hit the thumbs up if the video is any good?
This was an easy modification and its still hanging in nice and tight after 6 months on the van.

Just toured Europe in my dads T6, loved it. I’m convinced I’m buying one now. While I had it I upgraded the front lights with the Osram Ultimate Lasers and I also put the Osram LED DRL and sidelights in. Makes a massive difference in light output and looks. If you want a link to what I bought just let me know. They also don’t come up with an error too which is ideal!

Cheers! you should do it, its a nice easy mod that really stands out.... I purchased mine from Leighton Vans and the included the paint job in their £300 price so I am unsure of the painting costs.... Highly recommend going to them to supply painted if you haven't already got the spoiler. Thanks again!

Hey Steve! just wondering how the rear spoiler is holding up paint wise and fit?! I read below you got the rear spoiler through Leighton, did you get your front lower through them as well? I don't think they do a painted option on the lower spoiler.. Can't make mind up whether to go THQ for rear and front or Leighton.. prices seem cheaper at Leighton.

Hi, thanks for the vid. Did you have bolt holes on your spoiler, the one I have just bought has x2 m6 holes. I was planning on just bonding mine on like you. What do you think? Guess yours hasn’t budged?!

Benno yes mine had the m6 threads but not needed if you use a decent suitable bond like in the video the real key is clean surfaces and a the correct temperature when doing the job it wouldn’t budge in a hurricane now 👌. Good luck with it buddy 🤙

mrpete1972 Hi Pete, I just keyed the spoiler and made sure there was no wax or grease on the bodywork using the alcohol. Has bonded perfectly and seen wind rain frost and 37degrees of heat. 👌

Steve where did you get your prepainted spoiler?

Mark Smith I purchased it from Leighton Vans and they had it primed and painted to my indium grey in their body shop

Just watched your vid. Did you have the option to screw it to the tailgate door as I can see screw holes on the spoiler?

Hi Ian, Yes there are a couple of threaded imprints in the spoiler but i would still use a bond as well, just maybe less of it as the centre doesn't have any fixing points and air would get under it at high speeds.

Sure, I Was the same! I didn't drill and have been really pleased with how the bond only method has worked! its still really well on the van and has been through all seasons and about 10k miles.

I ordered it from Ebay originally to use in an ultrasonic cleaner. google it and you will see lots of options to go for. good luck!

It’s well on there. Been through 2 ruff winters and you could pick the back of the van up I’m sure 😂. Highly recommend the adhesive is used in the vid👍

Hi mate, bought a black spoiler to match my trim; do I need to spray and lacquer it even though it's already the colour I want? Cheers

Andy Wright hi mate, you might want to apply a paint for protection as the raw finish will look great now but will be exposed to the like bird dung or sun. If you like the mat look you can get it satin finished then at least you have a solvent barrier to protect it against the elements 🤙

Andy Wright it’s the stuff buddy!! It’s not runny and if like me you can’t be to careful just mask up the surrounding area first like I did and the peel the tape off after and you’ll look like a pro 👌

No. No primer just a scoring on the spoiler side and oil/grease remover on the area where the spoiler sits. 👍

That's the first time ive herd anybody say that about a T6 rear spoiler lol
