To high end audiophiles it is. A pandering audiophile press has over the years conditioned audiophiles that stratospheric pricing for "high end" products (like $12K to 14K Moving Coil cartridges) is normal, so that $4K for a pair of bookshelf speakers seems mid-tier by comparison.

Very nice. I decided to check out that t+a3100hv and whoa....😮 Pics of that toroidal Transformer inside of it is like the size of a bowling ball. I'm reading up on that now with the specs and stuff but that unit is the most expensive integrated amp I've ever seen or researched. I can only read and dream about that...for now...😂

Have you ever listened to/reviewed any of GR Research stuff? Like thier NX Studio speakers ($1,200 ish a pair) or LGK 2.1 (Little Giant killers), etc. Could you review thier NX? Studio Monitor speakers please? Plus thier B12/B16? and or B24 power cables please? Do Linear Power Supplies really make legit noticeable improvements on things like DACs, Streamers, tube EqS, etc?

Also I have audels with the smaller polypropylene woofer the lower priced ac speaker uses. Either ac speaker would perform well. The less expensive one may even sound livlier

What speakers have given you the most information at low volumes?

Per my and other reviews Focals Fritz speakers and a lot of others I suppose are decent at low spls. Those that are not elac, low sensitivity speakers generally. I once had Boston m15 horrible at normal levels extremely entertaining at high levels

Great review, as usual. I would love to listen to them, but they are not “bookshelf” speakers; they are stand-mount speakers. I would love to see our hobby stop using that outdated term unless the speakers are actually intended to be placed on a bookshelf.

C'mon, really that complaint is kind of petty. The term bookshelf speaker for stand-mounts has been used for many years. For example, many people refer to all plastic sandwich bags as "baggies". Just saying.....

Most audiophiles would not recommend placing a speaker on a bookshelf. It’s not ideal for sound quality.
