The jubilees were one of the coolest locomotives with a 4-4-4 wheel arrangement I often wonder if they were designed to counteract the onslaught of the diesel and I think they were named Jubilees in honor 50 years of transcontinental passenger service on the Canadian Pacific Railroad

I heard that they were really efficient when moving, but apparently starting was difficult. I imagine jubilees were pretty rare because the amount of wheel slip the drivers faced cased by the extra 2 sets of trailing wheels. I think the general rule of thumb was you had to have more driving wheels than trailing wheels to get you the traction you needed. I think this is why the Atlantics were more prevalent in history.
@SidTheAmazingTrainKid6 күн бұрын
Hey @KLTrainz I have an issue. I don't know why, but some of your older models (Such as 587 and 765) have their animated bells plagued with an issue that has been bothering me for a while. I don't know the exact cause, but if I place down the locomotive, and let it sit for a while, the bell ceases to work. Of course the sound still plays, but the animation does not. The animation also doesn't work when I have a locomotive couple up to another, which has been a very irritating thing. I have had to constantly delete the locomotive and place it down again. I still do enjoy the models, and do consider purchasing more, but if you or anyone else has a fix for this problem, I'd really like to know. Thanks. - Sid

@axis30396 күн бұрын
@UnofficialATKProductions knowing Steve, these will be added to the growing list of side projects to be completed and released sometime way down the road. From what I know of, there's also a prr e3, d&rgw k36, and a failed attempt at a up fef(up wanted too much in royalty fees for using the name/logo). We probably won't ever see the k36 or the fef. Steve has said he has future plans for the smaller prr e classes, but we'll see. I'd wager that these also will be back burner projects. I think Steve has his hands full of projects right now, so maybe someday...

Makes you with they would restore 2929 to operational condition, doesn't it?
@KLTrainz2 күн бұрын
Be nice to see it operate, but the engine is pretty useless for what Steamtown does. It couldn't handle more than 4 cars on the constant grade to Moscow, and the shuttle service is brutal on the larger steam engines with all the reverse moves in the yard.
@thehandofdeath21062 күн бұрын
Fair enough.
@AlcoLoco2516 күн бұрын
Why does a steam engine have a steering wheel?
@KLTrainz6 күн бұрын
That is the screw reverser. You control the engines direction and cutoff position by spinning the wheel clockwise and counter clockwise. It was actually very common on engines in the early 1900s through the 30s. The a C&O, PRR and NYC had a number of engines that used them too.
