Great video. You are lucky to live in such a wonderful area. I felt your pain with the guy that scared off the bull elk.

Beautiful area! Sometimes I get sick of living on Vancouver Island where it's just always wet. But I guess the grass is always greener on the other side...

I love your photos! You have inspired me to get the D850 and I hope with practice and learning, I can get a few good images of my own here in Colorado. I have a physical disability but I think I could still get some great photos right from my vehicle or accessible areas. I’m even thinking of doing a road trip to the Teton area sometime. Anyway, keep doing your great work...you inspire people!

Steve - Love to watch your videos. You are so lucky to live where you do. Spent some time in Glacier and Tetons this summer with my two children. All they kept saying was "why cant we live out here?" Keep up the great work and always looking forward to your next video

I feel your pain. i was in Gross Venture road waiting for two hours on a bull moose to come out for me and 6 other photographers and then two people walk in front of us up to within 15 yards of him and he goes further back into the woods. And I only get out there two or three times a year to take pictures.

One day you might create a viral video of an animal charging someone that got too close trying to snap a picture. Outside of that, I can't get enough of that beautiful area you're in!

Very nice! All three of the main food groups in the Tetons! LOL Have you ever come upon an elk and moose fighting or elk or moose vs bears? I'm just curious how they all seem to cohabitate with one another out there and if they ever get into scrapes with one another.
@macmcmillen62826 жыл бұрын
Great shots, Steve. How high was your ISO on those early morning bull elk shots? Do you have to do much noise reduction in post with your D850 images when shooting at the higher ISOs? Thanks.
@SteveMattheis6 жыл бұрын
I usually start at 6400 and decrease as the light gets brighter. I will do maybe 10-20 point of noise reduction on images above ISO 1600.

Great Video Steve, I love the image with the bear. You have owned the new 500mm PF now for a couple of weeks, what are your thoughts so far with the new lens. Can you make a final thoughts video of this lens ?? I am keen in buying one but I like some more info/videos on this lens. There is not much on KZbin (yet).

It’s great, I recommend it for sure. I’ll make a quick video as soon as I find some time...

Fall rut kinda depends on weather but usually all of September is good

Nice day Steve. I was wondering if you have time, could you do a video for the "budget photographer". There are groups of photographers (and beginners that may not want to invest a lot starting off) that certainly love wildlife photography, but don't necessarily have the income for some of the higher-end equipment. What type of equipment have you used or would you use, say...if your budget was less then $1,500 or even $1,000 to get the most out of this amazing hobby/art form.Thanks....
@SteveMattheis6 жыл бұрын
Interesting idea, I’ll work on it. But... wildlife photography is unfortunately a very expensive hobby and difficult to do cheaply. But there are certainly ways to do it within a budget. I’ll see what I can come up with...
@jameswaghorne40326 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I'll be very interested to see what you come up with as I know many others will also.
@TheeOwlQueen6 жыл бұрын
I don't know if this is of any help to you James, but I live in Canada, and when I first started out I was only using the Canon basic Rebel ($400 Canadian back in 2011) and I would rent the L lense 100-400mm for $40 a weekend (pick up Friday, drop off Monday) and I did that for years. I don't know if you have any camera places where you are located who rent lenses but it's always worth a try!
@jameswaghorne40326 жыл бұрын
Thank you Heather. I currently use a Nikon D5300 (3 years) with a Sigma 100-400 mm lens I purchased about 6 months ago.. I purchased both used. In total, a $850.00 investment. I do get many questions concerning equipment from others and how to get the most "bang for the buck" Would love to hear from professionals on their thoughts concerning this, experience and tips. I live in a small town near Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge. Sadly, there isn't any camera shops around for 50 miles....
@estarita19916 жыл бұрын
I shoot with a d7500, and a sigma 150-500 the lens used I got for 350 and camera used for 900 great combo
@slowlyrusting40446 жыл бұрын
You go for a morning drive and see elk, bear, moose and many other forms of wildlife. I go for a morning drive and see 250,000 cars going 2 miles an hour on a road with a 65mph speed limit. All kinds of ways to have fun in the morning :( I could be wrong, but you might have had a better time than I did.

Great movie again! Keep likeing them :) personally I prefer the method of showing the pictures with the movie not at the end like some of your KZbin colleague so :) but I'm certain you have your thoughts/ideas about doing it his way ! For me no reason not to watch but just some feedback I wanted to give you about my thoughts:) keep it up!!

Mmm reading my comment again it doesn't make much sense, English is hard sometimes 😅 with = within/during and I meant most other "KZbin colleague" I watched to that showing them inside the "story" not after, just to make sure to getting the right message over :) feel free to do with it what you like :) your playlist is awesome!
