I've become a huge fan of deep pour \ slow cure resin for all of my projects. I use the liw viscosity Let's Resin 2:1 and even though it's only maybe $2 more than my old Shabebe resin, the clarity is much better, and the slow curing and low viscosity allows for 95% of the bubbles to be removed through sitting after mixing, and then after pouring, i can remove 4% more bubbles by plonking the mold in a hot water bath.

Hi Steve! This looks great! Amazing timing, as I JUST this past week, tried (successfully!) a petri effect in the top part of the Lets Resin skull mold and it looks FANTASTIC!! I used JDictions Deep Pour, poured it up to about halfway through the eye sockets, and then added my inks and only one layer of C Deeper- just looking for weird and cool little formations to form. The next day, I added the remainder of the skull volume in black and then waited two days to demold. It's AWESOME. Looks like a lot going on in this skull's cranium! I think there's a LOT to explore with alcohol inks and slow-cure resin. Absolutely love your channel and have been a fan since you started. I'm not on social media, but if I was, I'd be a member! Thanks for all you do!

Love it. One thing I did (not a deep pour tho) is pour about half or even 3/4 full, drop your inks, then pour more resin - I was specifically trying to move the ink away from the walls (and using small pyramid) so I poured the clear down the sides and then I inked up a bit more or if I poured most of the way up, I didn't re-ink and then you don't have to saw the bottom. Also, it pushes the ink around differently. I actually didn't want the ink on the sides personally - I was going for a more wispy effect.

Never quite got the look I wanted, but all my "failures" still made fun gifts! The joy of resin: it does what it wants and not what I want it to do - usually, the resin is smarter...lol

The streaks are an interesting effect, and must be something the curves of the sphere create, I haven't seen that on other resin creations. They are very magical! I still haven't had a chance to get a deep pour resin to try the sphere molds, and I need to see if I can find those lamp based in the EU Amazon, so I won't break any regulations. We have finally some warmee weather on the way, so I can do resin stuff, I've been using a baby bottle warmer to keep everything at the perfect temperature, while freezing myself in my workspace. The things you'll do for art. 😂

@jodimarie379

Also, try curing from different angles. Flip over. Sometimes if it is a more intricate pattern, I think the UV lamps might just sort of not get into all nooks and crannies so I just stick it outside for awhile.

I once was using Alumilite Clear in a 4" deep mold and the temperature increased to 99 degrees C. (210 f). Would casting in a cold environment help keep the problems of excess heat down? Or is it about switching to a deep pour resin?

I did an experiment with a deep pour mold of bear and seal and shark molds the real large ones . The shark I did do alittle pushing like you did but the seal and bear I just let it sink naturally. I did 2 colors and white sinker. Over and over. Then I didn't touch it. It slowly sunk down. The color didn't reach to fully color seal head but I did run out of sinker to add more color. Bear was fully covered in ink that turned out really cool! I used c deeper letscresin and piñata. Piñata becasue I ran out of c deeper. Wonder if affects would be different with piñata since I heard it's heavier?

I would of used Jdiction deep pour not teexperts deep pour resin because I've got pieces using teexperts resin that are almost a year old and they have yellowed one piece a canvas I didn't have level I put down the side of a cupboard so sunlight couldn't get to it direct and it's yellowed absolutely gutted as it was a costly clock that I now need to carefully sand as close to the canvas as possible and then add new resin with slight colour to it so you can't see the nasty yellowing 😞😢😉👌
