a quick tip for before using any stretched canvas is to give the back surface of the canvas, a spritz with some water from a spray bottle and allow the canvas to air dry. This will make the cotton fabric naturally shrink and tighten on the frame more. This is the best way to get a nice taught canvas to work on. It may still need some support afterwards, depending on what ur doing arty, but it will give u a great starting place every time. All the best, Diane, UK x

Good video. I was just thinking if you wanted to make something a little more permanent you could insert 3 or 4 mm ply and fix some wooden blocks on the side of frame to hold permanently in place. Then tape over this prior to doing the resin to stop any leakage (as you have done). Just a thought👍🙂

The resin has made your pictures even more beautiful with the lovely shine! You say that you are not an artist by any means, but I beg to differ because you produce some of the best things I have ever seen! Thank you Steve 😊!!!

Your technique for spreading the resin after you've initially poured was extremely helpful. Thank You!!!

That was some very useful information Steve, I will certainly use that method when I am ready to resin my own art. By the way, I wanted to thank you for always taking the time to put the links to the products you use, in the description. I can't tell you how many times those links have helped me, you have saved me hours of searching, and I know the products are reliable since you are using them yourself, so thanks again Steve. Also, I want to say how much I love your triptych of paintings, the colours you used are all my favourites, they are really beautiful! God bless you and all those you love Steve. Have a great day!

THIS is what I was looking for!! Thank you so much for this 😀. I've got some acrylic art I want to cover & had NO IDEA how to do it 🤷♀️. You are not only a wonderful teacher but an amazing artist as well. Please, keep up the good work. You are an inspiration to us all 🥰

Your paintings are even more amazing with the resin on them! It really came out beautiful! I have a canvas that I want to protect with resin. Now I know how to do it and what the best resin is. Thank you!

I learned this from Artist Gina DeLuca, to support even before acrylic pouring to prevent pooling in the middle. Pizza boxes are my favorite to use. I can't imagine who would think resin can't to on canvas. They have missed a huge step in finishing and also resin painting on canvas!

Those turned out great. Good job Steve. I use cardboard in my backs occasionally... never thought to use the foam board. It definitely helps to prevent sagging. I also use painters tape on the bottom for easy clean-up of access paint or resin.

I really like the way your pictures turned out. I've been hesitant to do the same because I wasn't sure how to support the canvas. Your solution was brilliant! I will definitely give this a try!🎃

I've been using several layers of (flat) cardboard and tape for years before using fluid paint and resin for years to prevent sag but going to switch to foam board now .Thanks for the tip!

Hi Steve, marvellous video thanks. Can I just ask the resin in the description is J Diction but the ones in the video are Texpert. Are they the same or from a different supplier. 🤔 Ta.

Hi, I unfortunately have a canvas frame that has a cross backing. How would you suggest for me to do the backing?

When I have done this previously, I always made sure to cover the sides and edges with resin because that was what I had seen before. I tend to let it run over - just as if I were doing coasters. Is this not a good practice? What is the reason to avoid letting the resin drip over the sides? Thank you.

Same. Im sure either way is good 👌. I’ve always taped around the edges to dam it and then at 45 minutes (or depending on cure times) I pull the tapes. Adding heat gun for the perfect resin roll over. It is sticky to the tape & feels wrong 😂 but it’s fantastic every time. Happy Arting 🌹

That's probably a self-healing cutting mat. You can find them in most fabric stores, but I believe Amazon carries them.
