one good thing came from that video besides seeing that Audio quality CAN and DOES matter for our perception of music... And thats that youngsters that are fans of Linus probably didn't know too much about this incredible singer. And because of that video they got to listen to something that sadly isn't appreciated on nowadays radio. Want more of this on radio!

For those who don’t know, Steven Curtis Chapman had adopted 2 little girls from China. He wrote this song for them. Not long after this, one if his daughters was tragically ran over by a car and passed away. So this song has extra special meaning.

My father died when I was 4, and used to call me his "little Cinderella" because Cinderella was my favorite princess. Just yesterday, one of my best friends got married (beautiful ceremony) and danced with her father to this song. I couldn't help it, I started to cry. My Daddy used to dance with me until I fell asleep on his shoulder. Many people have said that they had never seen a stronger bond between a father and his little girl. Now I know that I will never have that chance at my own wedding. I would give almost anything to have him back. He was a wonderful person and my best friend. So as I look at the old pictures of me and him, I treasure all the good times I had with him and will be forever I got the chance to have him in my life, even for a short time. Midnight struck too soon for me.

Lyrics She spins and she sways to whatever song plays Without a care in the world And I'm sitting here wearing The weight of the world on my shoulders It's been a long day and there's still work to do She's pulling at me saying, "Dad, I need you There's a ball at the castle and I've been invited And I need to practice my dancin' Oh, please, daddy, please" So I will dance with Cinderella While she is here in my arms 'Cause I know something the prince never knew Oh, I will dance with Cinderella I don't want to miss even one song 'Cause all too soon the clock will strike midnight And she'll be gone She says he's a nice guy and I'd be impressed She wants to know if I approve of the dress She says, "Dad, the prom is just one week away And I need to practice my dancin' Oh, please, daddy, please" So I will dance with Cinderella While she is here in my arms 'Cause I know something the prince never knew Oh-oh-oh-oh, I will dance with Cinderella I don't want to miss even one song 'Cause all too soon the clock will strike midnight And she'll be gone She will be gone But she came home today with a ring on her hand Just glowing and telling us all they had planned She says, "Dad, the wedding's still six months away But I need to practice my dancin' Oh, please, daddy, please" So I will dance with Cinderella While she is here in my arms 'Cause I know something the prince never knew Oh-oh-oh-oh, I will dance with Cinderella I don't want to miss even one song 'Cause all too soon the clock will strike midnight And she'll be gone

My son is in prison. We're raising his daughter. He has kept in touch, apologized, and earned the right to a program called Day with Dad on more than one occasion. We just returned from a memorable day. The Prison Ministry group asked my son what he wanted to give to his daughter (Special Needs, 16 years old.) He asked for a Daddy Daughter Dance. These wonderful people arranged for this to happen. He got his first dance with his daughter today. This was the song he picked for her. He danced with Cinderella...and she with her Prince Charming and hero...her dad. Thank you for your gift of song. She has a form of cancer...we all know each visit may be her last. For years I couldn’t listen to this song without sobbing because I lost so much time with my daughter because of divorce and other stuff I won’t go into. But I felt like I’d lost her. Knowing Steven went through even much worse, the song just broke my heart. Years later my daughter is getting ready for college, and God has healed deep wounds like only He can. I still cry listening to this, but it’s joy and sadness and hope and above all, gratitude. If you’re hurting, no matter how badly or for how long, I promise you that Jesus is real, He is with you, and He loves you more than words can ever say. Let Him hold you and heal you.

I haven’t heard this song in AGES. My dad always used to tell me he saved this song just for me. I have one distinct memory from when I was maybe 7 or 8 of him playing this from his computer, helping me onto his feet, and he danced around the living room together. He told me, “I always think of you when I hear this song. This is our song.” Fast forward to now me being 20, our relationship isn’t as strong as it was. I never got a prom (my senior prom was cancelled in 2020), I’m not exactly wanting to get married, but I decided to come back to this song one more time. I just broke into tears just thinking of that one special memory I have with him. He’s not the best dad out there, but I will treasure the precious times we had together when I was little.

Well, this song just crushes me every time I hear it. It must be eight years ago since I thought of this. We still lived in our old house with the computer tucked in the corner of or small kitchen, and our 7 and 5 year old daughters would laugh and giggle and clamor for one more turn dancing on my feet before bed. Now, they are 15 and 12 and barely have a minute for me when their face isn't glued to their iPhone. I heard an interview with Steven and his daughter on a podcast called "Jesus calling" earlier today and it reminded me of this song, Glad I came here for another listen!

My mom says I’m not allowed to play this song at my wedding because it’s so sad
@sunnydayz4841 Жыл бұрын
@@impalednewt Well….. it’s poignant…. Bittersweet- it’s ‘both/and’ (as Father God warned Adam and Eve if they ate from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good AND Evil….) So, yes, it’s a bit sad ….and beautiful (for all the time lived together). It’s truth…. Reality. And the sooner people face reality, typically (hopefully) the better choices they make with their time and how they choose to spend it. So THAT perspective shift can create a more beautiful life- because a father who dances with his daughter, probably also does a LOT of other wonderful, family bonding activities which will build a legacy of love and connection for generations. (Like read the Bible and pray over his family). So a child who grows up in a home like that physically leaves the geographical home-base one day- ok- but the Bible tells us ‘ LOVE NEVER DIES’, so her heart always has this amazing special place for parents and this is enduring…. !!! Read Psalm 127-128. Beautiful! Also Proverbs 17:6 “Children’s children are a crown to the aged and parents are the pride of their children.” 💛💫🌅 This song encourages parents with ‘carpe diem’- seize the day. Like the Bible teaches us: ‘the days are evil’ so we need God’s help and wisdom to know how to use our time. And this song helps us prioritize God’s heart…. He loves family; and connection, beauty, movement/motion, celebration and fun! He designed us the way He did- and He created girls and women to love dancing!! This is good for men to seek to understand deeply. This video is ‘iron sharpening iron’ at it’s finest. Well done, SCC. 👍🙌💛

And I really really really love this song. When we were at the father daughter dance this song played and it was a slow dance and my dad started melting. God bless this man is making me and my dad cry!

I am bawling my eyes out right now. I was at my last daddy-daughter dance... Something at my school when you come to a dance with your dad. We danced to this song, and it was beautiful. I am so sad, I've done this for the past 3 years. Someone else in my grade was crying, it was her last time too. I saw her expression and realized that I'm growing up... How short life was. I wanted to cry so bad, but I held it in until now. I will never attend a daddy-daughter dance again..

I've had the opportunity to sing in front of several thousand people. I want SO BADLY to sing this song for my daughter when she gets married. I can't make it through the song without crying... sitting here all by myself, 6 months before her big day. These lyrics are so sweet and they mean so much. I don't know how SCC can hold it together and deliver such a heart-felt rendition of this song! Kudos to you, my man. What a professional and incredible skill set. Pray for me, everyone! My dad showed me this song so we could dance to it at my wedding. It’s the only song he ever went out of his way to show me. He got sick and passed away three weeks after a diagnosis, but I got to his hold his hand and listen to it on his hospice bed…Though he could barely speak, he knew all of the words. it will always hold a special place in my heart.

I heard this song once many years ago. I only barely remember what it’s about. Since my daughter was born I’ve been unable to listen to it without crying. I can’t even finish the song. It’s been at least 15 years since I made an attempt to listen. Today I tried again because I write better when I’m emotional and I’m finishing a re-write of a screenplay. I started crying in the fourth bar even before the first word. Fifty nine seconds is as long as I could listen before I had to stop. Fifty nine seconds. My daughter is seventeen. She’s perfect in virtually every way. I love her so much. Thank you Lord for daughters. And sons. I love them both.

I'm a brand new dad, and that song just put me into tears. It's making me choke up when I hear the words "Please daddy Please" and "while she is here in my arms". I'm looking forward to all those days ahead to holding her in my arms as an infant, to dancing with her as a little girl, and going through the joys and heartaches of her teens and then walking her down the aisle on her wedding day. I definitely don't want to miss a single moment of all that the journey has for me in the years ahead. Before I know it the journey will be over and she'll be gone. What a heart moving song.

Can barely listen to this song and With Hope by Steven… I’m a blessed Papa watching his little lady and baby boy (and soon boy #2!) grow right before my eyes. But before that, my wife and I suffered a miscarriage. And we still mourn that baby. I just wish any woman who was considering abortion would talk to a man and wife who wanted children, with all their might, but can’t. They would more than love that beautiful, God’s image-bearing soul. The hurt of losing a child never goes away. Even when blessed with more. But! God is ALWAYS good, just like the moon is always round. We can’t always see it, but He always is. Way better to me than I deserve.

I remember when I first heard this song on the radio with my dad. With a soft smile, he turned the volume up while driving, saying how much he loves this song. Then, he explained the sad story-the daughter passing, her sibling blaming himself for the accident-so much emotional layers behind this sweet song. I couldn't imagine the family's pain of losing someone so unexpectedly. Then, after being hospitalized for nearly a month, my dad unexpectedly passed to Covid-19. The amount of grief and true heartbreak that swept over me and my family is unexplainable. I've experienced loss before, but nothing like this. I was only 15 at the time. That same year was my Sweet 16, one of the most important days of my life that signified growth, and my dad wasn't there to dance with me. It's been 2 years, and I'm now 18, experiencing the early stages of adulthood. Sometimes I think about when I could get married, and I wish my dad was here to help guide me in finding the perfect man. He gave me a promise ring for my birthday, taking me by the hand and telling me a lot of men don't know how to treasure a woman. I made a promise to find someone that loves me just as much as he did, or even more. I haven't returned to this song since he passed. It's certainly an emotional rollercoaster remembering the story that comes with this song, and that I'm able to somewhat relate to it now. I wish we could still dance to it. I'm happy for the daughters who seized the opportunity to dance with their fathers to this exact song on their wedding day, I'm sure it's a treasured memory. The bond between a father and a daughter is beyond comprehension and cannot be put into words. I miss you and love you, Dad ❤

My Dad suprised me with this song for our Daddy Daughter Dance for my wedding and I had originally picked out Butterfly Kisses, but this song was so special since he picked it without telling me. He passed away 6 years ago and today I was listening and fire flies started to appear while I was, it was so special.
