Lovely tributes, Danny Murphy was on Talksport and had to leave the studio when he was told, he then composed himself and came back to deliver a beautiful tribute to Gérard Houllier with a voice thick with emotion. It was very touching well done Danny and R.I.P. Gérard Houllier.

He was certainly a nice man. I may be in the minority but I did not enjoy the football Liverpool played under his management. Relied too much on the long ball over the top to Owen. Some of his transfer decisions were awful.

He gave Steven Gerrard his first team debut in 1998. Two years later, he signed Gary McAllister. Three years after that, Houllier made Gerrard captain. That was his final wave of the wand at Liverpool. I adore that man. Part of his influence remained even when Liverpool won the Champions League in 2005. Above all of that, he carried himself with grace & I can only imagine those that worked with him for so long are devastated because I’m devastated as a fan, nevermind someone who knows him personally. With that being said, I’m a strong believer of celebrating the life lived rather than dwelling on the life lost. I’m going to binge on his teams & best moments for a while. Oh my word, that FA Cup game against Arsenal.
