Exactly right. Manufacturing a run is just as good as a homerun. Lost art.

Fletch and Brantley are great examples. They're the top 2 active players in lowest swinging strike rates. As a Clevelander, I was on the hype train when I heard Brantley comps

@TheSportsGuru Kwan could probably do that but he's like Fletcher with the eye of Trout (but with like more pop imo, prob a 10-15 HR guy regularly). I actually just saw a tweet that he has the longest streak of pitches to start a career without wiffing (115) since 2000 and Fletch had the previous high (100)

This just shows you that you don’t need to swing for the moon for a homerun everytime you come up to bat, when this kid comes up to at bat he’s just trying to figure out how to get on base wether it’s a Walk, Single, Double or Triple and I think the players who hit for avg and have a high on base % are more valuable than all them power hitters that just want homers and because of that their avg and on base % drop dramatically.

This is exactly how I played in little league. No need for power swings just hit the ball in a way or place that gets you on base. Once I was on base, I was super fast and would steal bases left and right and score runs.
