Dude, the end of the video where Steven Spielberg got his first Oscar win from Schindler’s List is monumentally insane. Even his speech literally made me weep in sheer joy, knowing how much hell he underwent while going back and forth between dinosaurs and the Holocaust. It's genuinely insane and crazy. And like the audience the therapy joke made me laugh because it's honestly completely reasonable after those months he endured doing the two completely different movies at once. It’s a true success story that’ll always choke me up for the rest of my life. This doesn't even factor in that he was working on Animaniacs as well around the same time! One thing also worth mentioning is that while filming Schindler's List, Spielberg used to call Robin Williams on the phone and ask him to make him laugh cause the whole process was hard to handle. He watched episodes of Seinfeld every night as well to lighten the mood. When he showed John Williams a cut...John was so moved, he had to take a walk, and said Spielberg deserved a better composer. What touched me the most was the final scene where the real people he saved and the actors portraying them visited Oskar's grave....such a powerful ending

I can only imagine if I were in that position my mind would be spiraling and the most obvious symptoms of that stress would come in the forms of what are essentially stressed induced fever dreams of war time horrors and fast dinosaurs all in one horrific blur. I would suffer extreme exhaustion, I have had stress dreams that feel like I’m hallucinating before mostly due to school and whatever subject I was struggling to learn (I had an Abraham Lincoln nightmare once that made me cry as a child) and it is not a fun experience. In this environment it would last longer and I would probably need medical attention.

One thing that admires me about Spielberg is that he's always pushing forward. 1941 didn't work? Fine. Be proud that you worked with John Belushi and move on. There are lessons in success and failure. He listened and kept creating knowing the obstacles as shown with this hectic year of 1993. This is a great showcase of how diverse Spielberg is as a storyteller. Schindler's List is a brutal experience which had me question "Did Spielberg really direct this?" Then he can go and do wholesome family and adventure films that bring out your imagination in a fun way. A similar thing happened in 2005. He did War of the Worlds and Munich in the same year. Both movies were shot at an incredibly fast pace. It actually took him about seven months between start of filming and release for War of the Worlds (which began filming in November 2004 and wrapped in March 2005 using five different soundstages), and Munich began filming the same day War of the Worlds released which was June 29 that year (mostly filmed in Budapest rather than Munich). Munich was released less than six months later on December 23rd. He also released The Lost World, Amistad and Saving Private Ryan all within a span of 14 months between 1997 and 1998!!

I also loved 1941 - and saw it several times in cinemas on its original release. It isn't perfect, but is far from the bad misfire that most critics claimed (and by doing so, successfully stopped a large number of people from seeing it). A number of great acting performances and great scenes in the film.

I'd like to think very far indeed - but there is also a possibility that his many flaws, including his tendencies for excess which perhaps led him to be so easily addicted to drugs were part of what made his performances so attractive - that is, the drugs both made him and ruined him. I've also had this feeling that character comes from flaws.

Everyone knows that Great Directors usually have a handful of movies that are argued to be their best. Kubrick has half a dozen, Scorsese has Taxi Driver, Goodfellas, etc, Tarantino, Nolan, Kurosawa... but none of them could boast making something as astonishing as Jurassic Park and Schindler's List in one year. He literally went backwards and forwards over the films day after day. Truly a competitor for the title of Greatest.

I was talking to my Dad about this and even he was amazed as well, Spielberg did want someone else to do the film but all the other directors he offered it to said only he could deliver the film justice in memory of the 6 million Jews murdered by the Nazis and their surviving relatives including the many thousands of descendants of the Schindler Juden.

Filming these two movies back to back, supervising the post production and editing one while filming the other for two of those months, and occasionally checking in the Animaniacs team during their story meetings since he executive produced the original show, and all three were able to debut in the same year. Steven is one dedicated artist and that’s what I really admire about him.

That was a beautiful tribute to Steven Spielberg and made me cry. I have always loved movies but Steven Spielberg was my hero especially as a teenager, which is when Jurassic Park and Schindler's List came out. I was obsessed with Jurassic Park. I bought a book about how it was made which is one of the few books about how a movie was made the Jurassic Park was so popular they put that out. But I have to say Schindler's List was such a powerful moment for me too because I never quite looked at WWII that way. Most of my introduction to World War 2 was through Indiana Jones. I can honestly say I watch Schindler's List more often than I watch Jurassic Park. But that year was one of my favorite years and it is been a long time since I've cared about who wins an Oscar or not. Back then the Academy Awards was my Superbowl. It was such an emotional Oscars that year, more than many other years

Also keep in mind that Spielberg had his Amblimation studio at this time still running. The feature that was being worked on at that studio the same time as those two films was We’re Back! A Dinosaur’s Story. And one of the reasons for that film’s production troubles was because of those two movies cramming up his schedule. As much as he REALLY WANTED We’re Back! to work and be a bigger part of that magic, the living hell of working on two movies made it the most difficult part of his or anyone’s entire career!

I saw Schindler‘s list in 1993 when I was 21 and in college, I went to the University of Kentucky and the hotspot to hang out at that time, was the two keys tavern. I saw the 7 o’clock showing and then at 10:30 went to two keys Tavern and I could not stop talking about this movie. Everyone that I ran into. I told them, “you have to go and see this movie ! You will experience the most intense holocaust, realistic movie, that you’ve ever seen in your life. It absolutely rattled me . half the time of when I watch that movie, I had my hands over my face. It was absolutely nerve-racking.

I hate to be the one to break it to you , but Schindler's list is a work of fiction. It literally says so in the credits , " based on events that could have happened any semblance to actual people is entirely coincidental." Barnes and Noble had to sell the novel under the historical fiction tag.

My World War II Army veteran grandfather passed away seven years before Schindler's List made it to cinemas. He saw combat in Germany. If Grandpa had lived to see this powerful film then he would have silently wept with compassion for the prisoners and sorrow for all that they were made to endure. It's not even just that. During the making of both he was also approving characters, voice actors and storyboards for Animaniacs since he was the producer. During Schindler's List, the film was just such an emotional chore to make that Spielberg actually played the voice recordings he'd gotten of upcoming stuff with Pinky and The Brain to help people be able to feel happy again.

Spielberg is an unparalleled filmmaker- to have made two of the most groundbreaking and successful movies of all time in one year, and at a point that was only halfway through his amazing career is remarkable and will never be repeated. I remember at the time a lot of film critics were snobbish and crapped on Schindler’s List, they soon were silenced when it cleaned up at the Oscars and that movie is immortalised forever while those critics are all gone and forgotten and their crappy opinions all forgotten.

Hard to believe that someone could make two monumental films from completely different genres in the same year. I was 10 when Jurassic Park released and it was my “Star Wars” or “Wizard of Oz” in that it completely changed the film industry and my understanding of what was possible. I didn’t see Schindler’s List until many years later and it may well be the finest movie I’ve ever seen.

Those were literally amazing. He is an amazing artist and person. The Oscar's part literally had me on the edge of shedding tears. Because he deserved every single one of them. It's genuinely insane and crazy.
