The thing is about Lars’s situation, is that the reality of knowing that everyone you know and love will grow old and die, all the while you stay the same, will eventually become mentally and physically taxing. First you start to grow distant, trying to shut out the feeling of guilt, hate, fear and dread of an inevitable future that it makes you appear as some kind of asshole. Then there’s the breakdown, where all the time of built emotions come crashing down as something triggers you to finally snap, wether it be the final death of one of your closest and oldest friends/family, or the realization that you are now alone. What comes next could be anything really. A sort of enlightenment that leaves you calm, kind yet quick to let go. A kind of madness as you wish for your own demise, losing yourself to the feeling of loss. Then there’s the saying “live long enough to become the villain”, where you just stop caring about morality, sensibility, and start to abuse your immortality as if to lash out at the world for daring to die while you can’t. This is all completely speculative, and now I have a story in mind. Adieu.

My guesstimate, the Gems at the Temple will be spoofed and shattered because of the direction they're going in this alternate reality. They'll realize that Steven can't poof, so they'll force his Gem out and shatter it, causing Human Steven to soon die. Soon, Lapis and Lars might just be the only 2 Crystal Gems left
