Rose as a character is such an inspiration to me as a writer. A character that was first seen as someone so embalished and good, but slowly turning into something more complex as we learn more about her. And the fact that Pearl slowly figures out that she wasn't perfect is such a realistic reaction if you lose someone you loved that wasn't always thinking in your interest... and Spinel is such a great character representing how it is to be abandoned.

She chose a life with Greg over ending the war with Pearl. Rose was always immature and would do anything to get her way. She was a victim in many ways, but the bad outweigh the good.

This gave me chills. A lot of people look at Steven Universe as this kiddish show based off the first few episodes and the art style, but when you dig deep into the story, you realize how sad and painful it is for these characters. Pink really was messed up, starting as a bratty kid, and turning into a naive leader who pushed all her responsibilities into a literal child. Steven Universe future really shows how screwed up that really is.

It's sad how much she actually hurt the people that were so close to her. So selfish of her and she didn't see it because she was blinded by what she thought was selflessness. (Edit: I know pink was hurt by others, but that still does not give her the right to do it back to people. She should have been the sensible one in the situation and put an end to the hurting. Not to mention, Blue, White, and Yellow never knew how much they were hurting her until they saw them hurting steven. And they corrected themselves, whilst rose saw her destructive powers, and continued to hurt people. I understand if you want to defend her for all the good she has done, but I also want to bring to light all the bad she has done too because we can't just forgive and forget that.

It is a heartbreaking story, I'm more on the line of 'pinks redemption was in reverse' and she can't be forgiven but she can be understood, nothing she did was right but taking the abuse, hate, pressure she was brought up under you can begin to see how some of her decisions were made

She was a product of her environment, but she was trying to do something good despite all the toxicity she came from. She didn't do it exactly right, but who does? Which of us isn't throwing stones from inside a glass house? I'd say that her biggest, most malicious mistake, was abandoning Spinel. However, even that was no doubt just the result of the way the other diamonds taught her to see her servants/subjects less like individuals and more like tools/objects. She rose up above a lot of the terrible things they taught her though. Just about all of them in fact.

It was both. Selfishness she couldn't see in the case of Spinel because of the way she was raised. However, also selflessness in choosing to give up whatever she had to in order to try to save the Earth and the gems on it. She just underestimated how vindictive her sisters could be. Likely wanting to believe they weren't that ruthless and simultaneously underestimating how much the loss of her would hurt. In the case of Pearl though, I don't think it's really fair to classify giving up her life to have a baby with Greg as selfishness. Imagine you're getting married and moving across the country to be with your spouse and start a family even though you will be moving away from your best friend. That's not selfishness. That's just..... life. The natural state of things is dynamic. Constantly changing. Sometimes, it's just really hard to accept change. When it comes right down to it, all of this is about perspective. Many many instances of failing to see things from someone else's perspective. For all parties involved.

@@threeguysandagirlinabeachhouse I blame it on the writers. Don't get me wrong. They did a lot of things right. However, they didn't do it all right. They put a lot of effort into using her as a vehicle to create conflict and, though they provided the evidence of everything she went through, they put precious little effort into showing it. There was little effort put towards giving us a window into a day in the life of Rose Quartz. Personally, I love me a sympathetic villain. An antagonist that I can't hate because they do such a good job of showing me their pain and making me see what things were/are like from their perspective. I think MHA and Demon Slayer do a great job of showing all that with most of their main villains. Resulting in the aforementioned position, where I can't hate them even if I don't like them. With Steven Universe, Rose/Pink wasn't even really a villain, but they failed to show her as sympathetic and give us a look at her perspective. Over time, they seemed to just settle more and more into using her to present new conflicts as a way to promote growth in the other characters. I think there's nowhere that's more clear than the movie. With her making the least understandable move she makes in the entire show. Just abandoning someone in space. I'd say her second worst move was Bismuth, but you could see how things would be deeply conflicting and painful from her perspective with that experience. Whereas, what she did to Spinel is just an example of childish selfishness and ignorance, as per her upbringing.

The screwed up thing with both of them is that they were made to please and "love" her. It's obvious that love is not something that the Gem's understood or at least the diamonds. I don't think Spinel was in-love but this was her best friend who she would do anything for. Then you have Pearl who actually was in-love and also would do anything for her. To the point where she was left to be the mother figure for the son that her ex while her two other friends got to play the fun aunts and on top of that while his father is definitely loving he most definitely is not exactly a great provider. Yet both Pearl and Greg were in-love/ infatuated with a being that never considered them anything more than friends with benefits if that.

Here is the thing about greg not being the best provider the gems did not have jobs or money and Steven didn't and Steven had toys, video games, food, he had money to go to the big donut and the arcade . And after a certain point when Greg had gotten the check from his manager for $10,000,000 he'd take Steven on trips and buy him things so (in my opinion) he was a good provider for steven

Pink is a redeemable character, she might have needed to learn about having empathy for others and thinking really hard about others feelings before doing things but if she came as far as to love other lifeforms and fight for the freedom of other gems then it shouldn't be impossible. Though Gems are born with certain mindsets and roles depending on what gems they are and given how the other Diamonds are, I can see why Pink had a hard time within those certain areas of actions that made her out to be a bad person. I guess it's not easy or almost impossible sort of. But she tried so hard to be good despite how her origins so thats why I can't hate her, she caused a lot of problems but did them with good intentions which isn't good but no one could have taught her better at the time. Those were just the times I guess when it exclusively comes to gems, No one taught her about consequences because gems like her never had to deal with consequences, however Steven had Greg to teach him about more caring behavior, we don't see it much but it's implied I think. Pink is a mixture of good and bad, good coming from intentions and doing what she could, bad coming from actions and irresponsibility. Her son was able to do what she couldn't because he was raised with manners, responsibility, and morals.

The way spinel said "she brought her pearl" really hits different on rewarching. They both were made for and hurt by rose quartz/pink diamond in different yet equally meaningful ways and rose never got the chance to apologize to either or correct herself. Like she could've been more sensitive to pearl after abandoning spinel especially if she felt guilt over it but no Pearl is still left behind

I think I know how you feel. Like 6 family members died in the span of 3 years (2016-2018). One of those was my mom and that was the hardest on me, it literally elevated my Anxiety/OCD but somehow it didn't give me depression. I know it's considered a toxic fandom, but there's still some very wholesome stuff that comes out of the worst places sometimes (Not calling the SU Fandom one of the "Worst Places" or anything, but just using an example)

Thank you! I think that every community has toxic people in it in different ways. Some of the ways are in conflict with the show's message(s), kinda ironic and hypocritical to be honest. I don't think most of the fandom is toxic but I'm not really sure. The only ways to really deal with toxicity in general are to know that it exists, call people out on it and/or make fun of them for it. Comedy is a very powerful tool when dealing with toxicity. It might not make them stop but the people listening to/watching the conversation will probably learn from that situation. Or if you have a public fan group and you were an admin or something like that, you could just ban them.

Well people just got to remember that hurt people, hurt people. Because its what they've been shown whether it's by pure instinct or subconsciously or Because they want other people to hurt just like they have. Like how they say that bullies might be jealous of you, might have something bad going on at home, or perhaps they're just taking out their emotions on you. An there a simple reason for all of that, it's because they've been shown how to hurt either by that their guardian showed them hate by hurting them emotionally or physically, or that's what they've seen their guardian do to people that their guardian doesn't like, or they saw it on TV. It comes from everywhere and people forget that it the hurt you were shown whether it was projected on to you or not, history tends to repeat itself and the loop will start all over. You get this mentality, "oh, well, look at how I turned out, just fine!" But then you're acting like your abusers or the people who have abused and you've seen. A never ending cycle of hurt.

This show is gold, when it comes to mental health. I really love Steven universe has a character that is talked about, but never seen. As a rape survivor there is part of me forever lost and gone.. Forever gone, so I could survive. It's.. Healing to see myself this way. @the same time, there I garnet who is one person, with two aspects that sometimes show. I wish.. I always wished to be her. To integrate this lost part of mine. Which I am not sure, if I can.. Oh I wonder.. It's all so.. Much. So much healing. So much feeling!

I think the part that makes Spinel hurt so much...is that Rose didn't care about her. Like...at all. She cared about *Volleyball*. And when she was broken and taken away, Spinel and our Pearl were given to her as replacements. A Pearl that acted 'correctly' and a Spinel for her to o ly have fun with, which makes me think that the event that broke Volleyball was a game. So she got a more durable playmate. But Spinel doesn't seem to have more of a personality than 'play' so it was easy for a...let's face it princess, to look at the servant that only plays with her and take it as a doll. We all feel bad for Jessie in Toy Story 2, but concept of her bring her own person never occurred to Rose or Emily. Spinel lacks the capacity to be her own person. She was fully formed knowing who she was and what to do: be a playmate to specifically Pink. Had PD seen her get frustrated or annoyed or heartbroken it would have activated in her head that 'this is a PERSON' like it did with Pearl when she said she's been imagining things. Or Garnet, she was an entirely *new* creation. That was what she was entranced by-the ability to know and change and grow. Spinel faded into the background of her mind because, to PD she lacked the capacity to *change*.

@@BluePencil22 1- I'm not saying that Spinel lacked the ability. I'm saying that to PINK she lacked that ability. She never showed Pink the kind of growth she exhibited in Future or the movie. Pink can't see the future, she had no way of knowing that ALL gems could change. When she left Spinel, she was only just getting a colony, still in her mindset of 'this is what I'm supposed to and I'll love it.' If all you're thinking of is what you're supposed to be feeling, anything that falls in line with that- like say, a gem following her programing to the letter, would just be background noise. It's not new or interesting, and we saw that Pink was BORED. 2- I don't *know*, but I can infer. We saw Punk looking bored with Pearl herself when she mentioned she wanted to do something and Pearl's immediate response was 'I want whatever you want'. Pearl was the first GEM that made her realize Gems could be autonomous, which was infinitely more interesting to her than locked roles

From my understanding of the show, which obviously could be wrong, there isn't really any evidence to support your claims about what went on in Pink's mind, so it's not really an inference, because inferences need evidence, it's more of a guess. I accept that she was bored because we have evidence that she was, we literally saw her being bored. Yeah, she probably couldn't see the future but Sapphire can. For all we know, she could've asked Garnet to see how Spinel would be in the future, but there's no evidence for that, so I don't believe it. Also, wasn't pearl programed to say things like "I want whatever you want" though, because she was a servant and she was supposed to do whatever Pink wanted her to do? And wasn't Pink the one who made Pearl autonomous?

All you did is let one song play out its entirety then fade into the other song. KZbin calling a music playlist a "mix" is referring to MIXtapes, which are typically more than two songs long. In short, you just posted one of the lowest effort videos I've ever seen with a clickbait title. Didn't even bother to add lyrics or anything. Side note: It most definitely *is* important. It's videos like this that somehow ride the algorithm to millions of views and take that spot away from meaningful, high effort, and high quality content. What you've done here, while seemingly inane and small, is the exact thing that is killing KZbin (when repeated over thousands of videos). So please, if you care about KZbin, or just quality of entertainment content in general, do better.

The only times when I change how I speak is when language evolves and if some of the words I use hurt others, not because someone on the internet tells me too. Now, when it comes to this channel's content, I post it for me and whoever else wants to watch it. I don't intend it to get picked up by the algorithm, but if it does, fine. You could give advice that might make the content better instead of just saying that it's low effort "clickbait", but for you to say that my content is killing KZbin because it gets picked up by a shit algorithm is just not true. It's the algorithm's fault for picking up my video in the first place. if anything, KZbin is killing KZbin, and not just with algorithm flaws. They're also doing it with the ad system and where some creators get demonetized for weird reasons (advertisers are also at fault for this), the way we communicate to KZbin (using Twitter), some creators getting copyright strikes and sometimes straight up banned even though they didn't break any guidelines, and just recently creators started getting randomly age restricted for unknown reasons. It's a flawed system and knowing KZbin, they probably won't do anything about some of the issues.

my analysis on this mix is , these gems were left behind by pink/rose. i'll start with spinel , she was given as a playmate for pink diamond and was tasked to entertain her and she did for a while but when pink was given her colony which was earth spinel was excited because she and pink will play together there but pink thought otherwise because she now has a mission to accomplish and saw spinel's clinginess as a burden so she tricked her by claiming they will play a "game" and orders spinel to stay still and not move , and poor spinel loving this "game" did what was told of her and watched pink leave , as 6000 years went by spinel started to wonder if she is playing the "game" right . until a message of a peace offering by steven was shown in the now decayed garden made spinel realize that this whole time she was lied and abandoned by someone she considerd her best friend and by so much grief she poofed herself and reshaped as a sadistic gem whose only goal was revenge , then we have pearl the most faithful and loyal compainion of rose quartz . ever since the rebellion pearl was always by rose's side and trusted all of her desicions , when rose started to have many relationships with various males pearl didn't mind because rose will eventually leave them , but when greg showed up rose started to think he was different from the other men and when he teached her a valuable lesson about humans and feelings rose started to really love him . pearl was broken hearted because she knew rose longer than anyone and always hoped rose will notice her but she never liked pearl that way and saw her as a friend and nothing more , one day rose gave news to the crystal gems that she was pregnant and pearl was shocked and saddend because she completely lost her chance of being with rose and when rose said she will give up her form to give birth to the child , pearl stormed out of the temple crying hysterically wondering what will she do when rose disappears and that she will be nothing without her , when that happened , pearl started to hate greg because rose chose him over her and sometimes steven because he is the reason rose was gone but has to protect him and care for him because rose entrusted him to her , and wonder until now why can't she let go of her feelings even after rose was gone . these gems were left behind by someone who didn't care about their feelings and the pain her disappearance has left in their hearts . so what does everyone think ?
