Notice how new garnet is pink and blue, and a complete 50/50 of Sapphire and Ruby? But the Garnet we know now looks more like ruby while her voice/way of thinking is like Sapphires? Because they were a new fusion they didn't know how to coordinate and their fusion was originally a surprise to them. But now after a while of getting used to eachother, Ruby and Sapphire fused as a proper 50/50 of themselves, Garnet having Ruby's appearance and brute strength while also having Sapphire's calm voice and future sight, and may also have Ruby's agility and Sapphire's speed. That kinda represents the ideal relationship now, when we get into a relationship we don't know how to do things, so we try to make our relationship a proper balance between ourselves and our s/o but confused on everything, but after some time we finally understand how things will work an will get more comfortable with eachother, and putting our 50/50 into our relationship etc etc
