I sort of assumed the musical part was the the diamonds fusing. There's always a song that plays as gems fuse, and I thought that since the light in Lapis' flashback had yellow, blue and white around in, it was an attack similar to Alexandrite's bow and arrow. The arrow was made of white light, but as it went towards Malachite, the figures of Garnet, Amethyst and Pearl appeared surrounded by colours similar to their gems.

Hard to find a picture since all you'll find is stevn universe crap, but I own a few that have been damaged by the sun. This would explain how the blast damaged the gems, but it wouldn't show how a gem was able to contract the disease. It could quite possibly be blown over, but som gems are also stronger than others and are able to resist more, water damage can play a huge part to with jasper. But who knows. Thats just a theory, A film th....I mean its just a theory. Lol

AJ in the episode "The return" Greg says something about rose only being able to save her closes friends and "If not for her shield then..." this definitely connects with your sound cancelling shield theory because I think Greg is referring to the "Corrupting bang" that happened so Greg and Steven will definitely have to band together to in corrupt gems together. I feel it will be Steven unbubbles a gem and lick it to "fix" it kinda then Greg plays a special sound or song and it makes them unconscious and Steven hopps into their mind and solves some sort of internal conflict that then removes the corruption then they join the crystal gems.

Your theory about sound frequencies affecting gems makes sense, especially the part about Rose's shield being able to cancel it out, All types of quartz are piezoelectric. Meaning when given an electrical charge they vibrate producing ultrasonic waves, and when hit with ultrasonic waves the produce electricity. This could be how Steven eventually cures the corrupted gems, and could lead to new abilities for Steven as well.

I do not make a habit of watching KZbin commentary, but I ran across your posts while researching Steven with my daughter and I now access you as a resource on a regular basis. I appreciate your abstract, metaphysical views that far surpass a superficial analysis and often reflect my own. I agree that the focus of the diamond "curse" was the audio aspect and through the matching of frequencies, or opposite of, will be a key to the undoing of corrupted gems. If you pause at 1:46 you get a really good look at the wave of corruption energy. It's clearly made up of white, yellow and blue light, so apparently all three remaining diamonds had a hand in it. Possibly they needed all three to hit the entire planet at once, or it only works when they're together, I don't know. I wonder if Pink Diamond could do that too. Or if she could reverse it, if healing is common amongst pink gems.

I really like this theory because it explains the purpose of the episode in which Greg was able to tune into the wailing stone. Greg is portrayed as a mostly useless character, so it seemed to me like it was sort of pointless to include him in an episode where he utilizes his knowledge of audio technology to help the gems. With this idea that he will later use that knowledge to help the corrupted gems, that episode seems like a perfect build up to explain why he would be able to do that. Another good theory!

I agree with Aj's theory all gems need to dance to fuse unless they are the same type like Steven/Rose and Amethyst fused with the power of love. audio does seem to have some effect on the gems, when the wailing stone activated Steven did the tingling thing like when he past through the cell field on Peridot's ship, Now this might just be because of the how load and annoying the wailing stone was but anytime Steven interacts with gem tech that would poof a gem it just makes him tingly. If the wailing stone would put out a different frequency it might have poof or damaged the gems.

I really love this theory, honestly. It's not something one might typically expect to happen but it makes sense given all the clues. I hope they end up doing this, really. It would also help cement the human factor in the ordeal. Like as in humans helping to protect the Earth from hostile Gems. I never thought Steven alone would save the corrupted gems. Steven is an spark, not a flame. He inspires others into greatness, rather than do everything himself. This is most evident when he's saving the cluster, as he doesn't do everything himself. I wouldn't be surprised if they have someone other than Steven heal the gems.

i think the corrupted gems in the latest episode were maybe yellow diamonds guards once, and they defected to roses side and became really close friends with rose. they could've been really rare and recognizable, and stole intel from the diamonds, so they had/have a price on their heads. they're probably varieties of the same gem because their corrupted forms are so similar.

Greg was able to translate Lapis' message using the wailing stone with certain frequencies. When Steven mentally travelled into the Cluster, there was a loud and nasty frequency when it talked. So Greg could translate that frequency into a reverse and be able to heal the corruption. He'd have to use that gigantic Wailing Stone from Gem Hunt though.

I can even see the whole crew going to the Centipeetles' ship to try to heal them. Greg starts playing a song while all the gems and Steven hold each other's hands and blast a flash of healing light. Then all the centipeetles reform into their original forms and look at each other. The Capitan runs to hug Steven and thanks him for not giving up on them. Ahhhhh, it feels good to be a dreamer.

well there are a couple things we need to remember there might be sounds associated to gem abilities. but the gem abilities will be the ones that emit sound, the reason Steven's/Rose's shield was interfering with the water clones because of resonant frequencies. either of the shapes of the objects or on a molecular level. now that light and sound that was mentioned may have both been disconnected and disconnected the sound may have been an unrelated ambient that was coincidental. but. though I would say that the Gems are more alive and sentient than a computer program it's been theorized that the Gems are just complex programs with a core that projects a hardlight body and that sums up their existence, they're created already having a purpose and knowing what they are and what they have to do Sound really doesn't play into their existence when you consider it like that. so assuming for a moment the sound is meaningless, you're left with one possibility, just the light. and that kind of transmission could even have happened from the gem homeworld. meaning the sound couldn't possibly have been transmitted. I mean A majority of the corrupted gems ended up being friendly fire. think about it. the resistance couldn't have been that great, in fact Bismuth only mentioned a few names. and in centipedele flashback. there were ships trying to get away from the planet, which is why they appear to have crashed, Pilots were corrupted and with nobody to fly the ships they could neither continue flying or land properly. so we could from that episode surmise that the Diamonds really don't give a dam when taking care of threats to their order which does not allow free thinking in any way now the Gems don't get sick the way people do people get bacterial and viral infections but Gems only have 2 kinds of sick. and death cracked gem (currently treatable like an infection with the right help) Corrupted (kind of the gem AIDS, there's no known cure but you can live with it?) and shattered (still unknown if Steven and Rose could undo this damage with or without all the pieces) now the light could have been a transmission, long distance, maybe even an FTL communication from homeworld and when that signal reached a gem it was a kind of digital virus. as bacteria and other forms of infection really wouldn't effect a solid mass that projects light. and now you're going to say "but Aaron, Jasper wasn't exposed to the signal, so wouldn't that mean that it's a psychological breakdown of the entity that's completely lost the will to live on as they are?" I'd be inclined to agree with you. but you forget that she did fuse with a corrupted gem that would be the equivalent of connecting 2 directly with an Ethernet cable and allowing data to pass between the gems freely. (the exception to non physical connections being Steven and his telepathy which he is still yet to interact with a corrupted mind in this way) so Jasper may not have witnessed the original data burst, but the data was transferred to her gem during the fusion. I think this is the true ability of at least one of the diamonds, if they can't control a mind they can break a mind I mean, we've still not seen the abilities of a lot of the gems. Lapis can control water, Peridot is a ferrokinetic, Rose can heal, Sapphire can see the future AND cool an environment, and Rubies are literally hot tempered (and can maybe shoot lazors from their gem). Bismuth is strong and uses her body to forge tools of war and was one herself. but Pearl doesn't appear to have an ability beyond being highly intelligent and being able to fabricate items more easily than other gems. which if were being honest all the gems should be able to do. and Amethyst and Jasper and most other quart's other than Rose haven't been shown to have any ability.

ooh i really hope you're right greg is one of the best characters on this show and he deserves a place in the spotlight, and it does make sense greg is amazingly talented when it comes to music, even the idea that the one to heal the corrupted gems would be human make sense, humans are fundamentally different from gems that means we can come up with ideas the gems couldn't even dream of what i think is going to happen is that Steven is going to uncover some new information something about the weapon that was used and he is going to tell greg about it and together they are going to develop some kind of cure, but this is just a guess maybe it will turn out completely different who knows

I still think it will be Steven, either he will develop a new ability (again, floating was unique, Rose could adjust her decent, but most gems automatically adjust to the local gravity, like on the moon, point is, it shows he is still gaining new abilities), get a new 'toy', or something with him fusing with others, most likely Connie, but it could be Greg, or another Gem, or a combination of the above. As you said, Steven is also rather musically inclined. While I would not be surprised if Greg is involved somehow, I think that Steven's healing, and maybe mind link too, will be the main catalyst. To heal the bear, he kissed it, for the Centipeetle, he licked his hand and slapped her eye, that could be part of it. Maybe he needs to better his telepathy and/or learn their language to better communicate with them. Pearl was not familiar with the newer Gem technology at that time, they were also surprised that it included video, so her not knowing isn't surprising. Another thing about their tech, is that is affects humans differently (some not at all), and affects Steven in a wholly unique way, a mix of the two. Take the new weapons and force fields on the ship, they only caused Steven some discomfort and something else, where it popped gems, or worse. It is even possible that prolonged exposure to them could corrupt them. Another thought was that they get their hands on some of the Diamonds weapons (or possibly a Diamond herself, if they are the 'weapon'), and reverse engineer them (or Steven fuses with her, if it's a power, not a weapon) to work with Steven's healing ability to fix it.

Perhaps Stevan's sleep possession powers can be used as a direct input for greg's audio frequencies, allowing them to heal corrupted or clustered gems from large distances?

here's a super big hint, what if it's actually an electromagnetic frequency? from my limited understanding piezoelectric crystals produce a small but measurable electric reaction when struck with a physical force, and they tend to react with a physical force when hit with an electric current importantly, the most common crystal to have these properties is salt, followed closely by quartz, and quartz is the most commonly used today, because it doesn't dissolve in moisture

AU Universe I just realized something important!!! in the episode when amethyst has the black corrupt gem in her room and she gets poofed alot she is all distorted and can't keep her shape, the thing that got my attention was how stressed she was and how she felt like she wasen't good enough to be with the group. If what peral and garnet said about it being damage to the mind from the dimonds and the fact that amethyst wasent found until after the war means that she wasent protected from the corruption flash by rose but she was underground were sound doesn't travel well. so she may have been affected to an extent and she just needs to be in sound mind to keep her nobcorrupt form, unlike when she was all distorted when her mind was clouded and only thinking about how she sent good enough. I hope this helps any theories you had or makes new ones. :)

After watching a few Videos, I am sure the corruption was caused by a sound frequenzy from the Diamonds. It shouldnt stop steven from healing them though. Steven repaired Lapus and she became a full Gem again. That is eventhough she had a huge part missing of herself. The homeworld sound attack is different though, some frequenzies can shatter whatever shares their wavelength, so the Gems that got corrupted basically got small rips inside their Gems. So if Steven could fix Lapus, why cant he fix the small cracks?

So, Corruption was basically a massive attack that scrambled most of the gem's minds, causing them to go insane and change into a beastly form of what the once were. Steven's spit heals physical injuries, all physical injures, even physical imperfections like bad eye sight, but not mental injuries, at least not fully. But we've seen a lot lately that Steven is getting stronger in his physic powers. Mind swapping and dream immersion, or entering someone's dream and helping them. He's done it with Lapis, Kiki, and more importantly the cluster, which is very similar to a corrupted gem. Perhaps with this power, not his healing spit, he can enter the minds of corrupted gems and help piece their minds back together. A side note, some gems seem to have a sort of period of coherency, particularly Centi, who had two. The first time when she regenerated smaller and more timid and the second time when Steven partially healed her physically when she had her memories and writing abilities seemingly intact. So this shows that corruption is more dementia and less a full psychotic breakdown. Making Steven's job possibly easier.

I honestly believe the episodes of Steven Universe that have been focusing on Steven's telepathic powers are there for a reason. For example, he helped Kiki with her dreams and they showed that he is capable of completely taking over people with his mental capabilities. So what is to say that he can't go into the corrupted gems dreams and heal them that way? Sure, it would take a while, but it would make sense since they have been focusing on it a lot lately.

Not sure if you made this review before Jasper's corruption, but it seems that corruption isn't just a onetime ability but more like a gem STD transmitted between gems during fusion, which means that its an ongoing plague to perhaps despoil the earth and ensure that no survivors can make use of it like a scorched earth policy. Also perhaps sometime later Steven can go back to the cluster and see if the shards' discussions have allowed them to find what specific form each part belongs to and then steven could just collect them in specific piles and heal them back together.

It seems as though the corruption event causes all memories and coding to be erased and then once they start to remember who they are and what happened to them it triggers the memory of the corruption event and then they forget everything again
