some of my favorite solos in his discography are his own solos, waiting phase 1, shesmovedon, sound of muzak. Although Guthrie is the best improv guitarist on the planet id still take those early ptree solos

I wouldn't tell Picasso how to paint--he's saying that his last records are not so conceptual in comparison, have to hear the next one to judge but truth be told, though, "The Future Bites" is an otherworldly album that I just can't stop listening to. Yes, the music had a "pop sensibility" to it, but it was entirely unique in my humble opinion. King Ghost, Follower, too many great songs to list...I am always excited to hear his next ideas. Go Steven! 👏

For me, this experimentation of sound in electronic music within limited perimeters is why I adore early Severed Heads records and also contemporary Buchla synth artists such as Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith. The sounds these artists create within a framework of left field pop music is/was amazing.

Interesting that Steven describes these analog synths and certain plugins in this way while wearing his David Bowie shirt because it was David Bowie who once said about analog synths something to the effect of "It's not necessarily a string sound or a horn sound that I'm looking for. imo you should stop comparing yourself to clowns, or anyone for that matter. it takes time to do big things, specially if you don't have the "make money at any cost" kind of mindset. you probably don't want to have your music played on a meme to get viral on tiktok, and that will pay off in the long run. you still have to think of ways to make money, reach people, connect to people etc. just do it in your own way at your own pace
