I was a teenager in the 70 - we had a gas. Tons of good bands, tons of it. pop, rock, hard rock, glamour rock, progrock- it was much more diverse than nowadays, where it is all beats. No melodies anymore. Wilson is an exeption. Watch the series "LIve on Mars" and you get a glimpse of it. Or even better the movie "Velvet Goldmine".

*In the song "Lazarus" (2005) by Porcupine Tree, Steven Wilson sings: "My David, don’t you worry / This cold world is not for you / So rest your head upon me / I have strength to carry you…" Like if Wilson was sending a message of comfort to Bowie eleven years before his farewell song: "Lazarus" (2016). Life is so mysterious sometimes… RIP Great David Bowie. / Dans la chanson "Lazarus" (2005) de Porcupine Tree, Steven Wilson chante : « Mon David, ne t’inquiète pas / Ce monde froid n’est pas pour toi / Alors repose ta tête contre moi / J’ai de la force pour te porter… » Comme si Wilson envoyait un message de réconfort à Bowie onze ans avant la chanson d’adieu de celui-ci : "Lazarus" (2016). La vie est parfois si mystérieuse… Reposez en paix, génial David Bowie.*

@MrDuneedon8 жыл бұрын
Hmm. Well...I didn't like LG's tribute all that much. Basically because she tried to cram 10+ songs into 5 minutes. It came off as a Vegas variety act paired with an Intel commercial. But, her opening, singing "Space Oddity," left no doubt that she's got the vocal goods to do Bowie justice. She just should have covered that song in its entirety -- it would have been far more effective IMO.
@Archontasil8 жыл бұрын
+MrDunedon the one crucial thing american shows have is subtlety. everything have to be loud bright shiny and extravagant it's the opposite of Steven Wilson
@MrDuneedon8 жыл бұрын
Archontasius Heh, well...I will say this: American shows are tame, quiet and reserved compared to many of the productions I've seen out of Japan, South Korea, and the Philippines. ;-) In any event, yeah, I get what you are saying. It's a shame, because the music *should* be allowed to speak for itself.
