Me and my friend Nancy Jo saw this in a theatre in the village when it came out. It was a full house. After it was over, nobody would leave the theatre. We all cheered and chanted so hard that they played it again. It was pretty cool!

I’m reading a Playboy from March 1992 page 24 upper left hand corner Linda Konner wrote that Steve won an Oscar in 1989 for this, so I had to watch. He and I were born a few month apart in 1955 and I’m from Boston too. Thanks for posting.

Easter egg: the film setting jumps all over the US. First it's in Seattle (Steven reads the "Seattle Chronicle" in the waiting room) then he has an apartment just above Worth Auto Parts in Worth, Illinois, then he sees on television his girlfriend and analyst in Greenwich Village. There may be more jumps; those are just the ones I noted during one viewing.

I met Steven in SeaTac airport. I think he was surprised I recognized him and that I asked for his autograph. I was over the moon! I LOVED his comedy specials and any time I caught him in a tv show or movie. Even in Swan Princess. He asked if I was traveling to New York and I told him I was just seeing my mom off and he said that was a shame. He wrote some flattering comment on the paper and I told him thank you. I wished I could have stayed talking with him but my mom was nervous about flying and I was getting the stink eye from her and my stepdad. 🙄 Plus I didn’t want to be a pest. Such a funny guy! And very nice!

Those Oscar statuettes are actually lifesize, they just look small because the actors are all midget giants. The carpets are called red, but the shows are actually filmed in black and white. That is true acting. Steven was filming a documentary that night of himself winning the Oscar, but the music played him offstage for a commercial so it couldn't be released as a full feature film, just the shortest musical ever made. He had expected a lot more swag in the gift bag backstage, but all he got was an alarm clock that rang in braille. After a heated discussion with the staff, they finally agreed to swap it out for another clock, but that one only had the number '12'. They said, "Don't complain, these clocks are exactly right twice a day. You'll just have to organize your schedule around it." He was so nervous he had hired someone to ghostwrite his acceptance speech that evening, but unfortunately it was a mime.

It's about a man who visits a contemptible psychiatrist, David Hyde Pierce has a cameo at the restaurant, and Steven even reads from a Seattle newspaper at one point -- but then, this came out before that show... does _Frasier_ take place in Dennis Jennings' universe? 0_o
