My wife told me stories of being humiliated at school due to being the only Asian there and begging her parents for a more normal lunch. Hopefully we continue to progress and be more accepting. This is so great :)

Hate to say it, adults are no better than children. I cannot speak for other countries, but I know it exists in America, especially rural, demographically homogeneous areas. Folks who did not grow up with Asian cuisine and flavors will very likely criticize it as disgusting, especially if they are culturally ignorant. Of course, such people are so prone to impulsive judgments that they refuse to see the benefits in learning more about another people group's culture and distinctions.
