With 2 story homes with 1 system, I tell them to run the fan the ON position, this way the fan circulates the air through the house in the off cycle, otherwise once the fan stops, thge hot air stays up and cold air falls down.
@mikea19732 жыл бұрын
If u left the fan on u would be blowing the humidity back into the house when compresser shuts off from the water condensate on the evaporator..it must stay on auto..however u can use fan on during the winter when using heat..fyi
@skidmarkman3212 жыл бұрын
@@mikea1973Never heard of that one before, I have an MET , any links to your theory? Seeing as the coil is 40F and condensate drains away, the 1/4 cup left is nothing.. with a 2 story home the heat goes up and cold stays down unless you leave the fan on. The miniscule degree of humidity if any measurable is insignificant compared to being upstairs with 80F air while downstairs is n70F

I don’t know what kind of system they have in Boston or wherever he is but my second floor it cools fine coming through the vents. I just close a couple vents downstairs and get the upstairs nice and cool. Mine is an R 22 Goodman from 08

You taught me something new again Steve. I thought a bad capacitor would stop the compressor fan from running. I learned that the capacitor also helps the compressor to turn on. Thanks for the info.
@joeylawn361112 жыл бұрын
Those A/C capacitors have two caps in one package - the higher value is for the compressor, the lower-valued one is for the fan.
@Logaweed2 жыл бұрын
With a dual run capacitor like this you can have 3 different scenarios. Either codensor fan works and compressor does not, compressor works and condensor fan does not, or what seems to be the most common is both the fan and compressor do not work.

What you guys think about the misters to put on condenser my neighbors thinking about paying a guy that comes around selling them to put it on saying save 30 percent on electric I experimented years ago with homemade one it lowered head pressure and seemed to cool faster but don't think it would be worth it
@waynespringer5012 жыл бұрын
I just put a cheap $20 7 mister amazon kit on mine. No way it saves even close to 30 percent. It does increase my delta T temp (meaning it blows cooler) about an extra degree on hot days
@skidmarkman3212 жыл бұрын
Air cooled condensers will condense at 30 degrees F above the outdoor temperature, it has to bring the refrigerant gas above the outdoor temperature so the air even if it is 120 F will be "cooler" in comparison, the refrigerant gas can reject the heat outside and condense the gas to liquid, and once liquid , sub cool the liquid refrigerant about 15 degrees F. So for an R 22 system on a 95F day you expect a condensing temperature of 125 F because 95F plus 30F = 125F, R 22 at 125F = 279 psi. So on a 95F day you mist water and reduce the head pressure and amp draw , however the evaporator coil requires 279 psi yet gets 220 psi , this simulates a much cooler day than reality, which is great for the compressor however terrible for the units performance. Regardless of the metering device used there must be a minimum of 100 psi differential between the high side and low side to operate correctly
@fredrictown2 жыл бұрын

@fredrictown2 жыл бұрын
@@skidmarkman321 thanks
@skidmarkman3212 жыл бұрын
@@waynespringer501 By simulating a cooler day than reality the head pressure drops which sends less refrigerant to the evaporator coil. No AC unit works better by simulating a cooler day than is reality. In fact if you restricted air flow on the condensing unit by placing a newspaper around the unit , blocking air flow, the head pressure will increase which pushes more refrigerant to the indoor coil. The outdoor temp is what determines how much refrigerant you get indoors regardless of metering device used. Rheem made water cooled condensers in the 60's called "Coral Air " Water cooled condensers are great when the head pressure is controlled so to not drop below what you need, by placing a mister there is no controlling the head pressure drop. Imagine the house is 80F and it is 95F outdoors but the condenser is tricked into thinking its 80 outside too!
