I got a call on that exact same unit, as the CRAC Unit was down. I made the mistake of taking the cover off without pulling the disconnect. The controls box was full of water to the brim. You Never saw someone move as fast as I did to the disconnect, and no it hadn’t blown the fuses. You should get some “ Insulated Pin Terminals, from McMaster-Carr, they are helpful when going from a screw terminal to a lug terminal. BTW I told them the we’re playing a dangerous game by using a residential unit to cool a computer room.

I'm wondering if a start on cleaning one of these, would be to take the air compressor hose to the INSIDE of the condenser coil.... Since stuff gets sucked in the side, with the fan blowing out, this would be the reverse and might blow a lot of the stuff off and out.....

I have a question? Is this a TXV or a piston type metering device? Say it was a piston metering device what would happen to the Low side of the system and the Superheat if the condenser was blocked up like that? Thanks

Pleated filers can allow more air IF the material used is not very restrictive. Problem is almost all the pleated filters go overboard on the filter material. Nothing like trying to force air past a coffee filter.

Good work, I love them old Ruuds, bullet proof. I just by pass the delays and let the thermostat take care of it. No sense in having multiple delays in my opinion. But then again you have to weigh the ins and outs of a new t-stat vs delay board. Some people dont like the new t-stats.
@stevenlavimoniere8 жыл бұрын
high /low pressure with time delay is there to save the compressor in case of a problem .i guess it did its job

What is your opinion on (home warranties) Appliance break down coverage? lets say to cover the cost of reclaiming my R22 refrigerant?
@Jeepjones857 жыл бұрын
Mine when out last weekend and it was making the contactor buzz so loud I thought my compressor was going out, I've heard them make noise before but this was the most ungodly racket, you could actually hear it driving up the drive, I just bypassed the pice of shit because my digital tstat had one built in.

I heard you mention pleated filters. i am running a 24x24x1 Filtreat 1900 Maximun Allergen. 90 Day Airflow. ( Cats and Dog in house) There is only one large intake in the livingroom. The AC unit is 2.5years old. Air flows in from the bottom up through the A-coil looking thing, then through the ductwork as cooled air. QUESTION: Am I running the wrong filter?
@stevenlavimoniere8 жыл бұрын
you need 900 sq inches per ton to run them 24 x 24 =1056 for 1 ton how big is your unit??? i bet its bigger then 1 ton. run the cheap filters is what you need to run
@gort4008 жыл бұрын
I think he said it was a 3.5 ton
@stevenlavimoniere8 жыл бұрын
run the cheap filters and it will run better you need the air flow how big is the return flex ??? 3.5 ton need 2 16" returns i beat you have one
@gort4008 жыл бұрын
Just went outside and checked. 3.0 ton. Only one return inside. It's where the filter is. On the Living Room wall there is a intake with a louvered metal grate. All the return air flows into this big opening. When you take the grate and filter out you are looking into a big box opening created by the walls. The copper pipes come up from the concrete floor. Then if you put your head in and look up you see the A-coil thing. Single story 1500 sq ft 26 yr old house, 2nd heat pump A/C (inside and out) since house was built. Deep South Alabama..HOT!!! I will get the cheaper filters...thanks for all you do. Watch all the time tell everyone about your skills!
@joshb1248 жыл бұрын
Sounds like I also got the wrong filter. Same situation, cats, dog, dust and was going to see if it was better than the cheap ones. its 16x25 1500 microns but its a 30,000 btu Rheem and I was already concerned about low airflow before this filter.

low /high pressure controls with time delay will save the compressor if there is a problem . if any pressure control goes out there is a 5 minite delay between start up hence the time delay .
