Stevens Transport Orientation, Day #3

Day three of four in Dallas of my orientation. Another long classroom day followed by a few yard manuvers. Back tomorrow morning (10/27) for the last day! Then I get a trainer to ride with for 4-6 weeks.

Not normally, but it has been known to happen if they have longer suspicions of a driver.

Are they paying you for orientation? Back in my day they didn't pay us and we need to pay our class action lawsuit.

They pay for training, you start getting paid the day of your hire. Sometimes the recruiters tell you orientation, but that’s a lie. And from what I’ve heard the pay varies, anywhere from $500-$700 a week until you go solo.

You are on payroll the 4th day after orientation, shortly before they assign a trainer to you. 700 a week fixed rate during training and 50 cents a mile after grad

For orientation yes, three days and then hit the road. That is after you have your CDL. The school is 3 weeks. Orientation is for everyone whether you went to school on the yard, in Houston (as I did), or come from any other company as a driver already.

Yes, $600 a week, until you go solo. Then you are guaranteed $1000 a week. I only had to use the guarantee one time, (I think they covered $113 to make up to the thousand dollars)

I went to the sponsored Lone Star College program in Houston for my CDL school, so I stayed at my house each night for my school. I'm not sure if you go to the school on the yard when it comes out.

Awesome!!! Be early, pay attention, and trust your instructors. They will teach you exactly what you need to know to pass. I'll be coming out with a pre-trip video, including in cab and brake check, very shortly. It will be EXACTLY as they say it, and it will guarantee pass you. I'll probably be doing that this next week.

@@p_drizzytv CDL PREP is one of the best apps for studying the TX Special Requirements, General Knowledge, Combination Vehicles, and Air Brake exams. Those are the first 4 test you will take on Wednesday of your first week. Studying them ahead may help make it easier. Other than that, they will provide all the materials.

@@p_drizzytv No I had no experience going in. Neither did hardly anyone else. I think only 2 out of 14 had ever driven big trucks before.
