Sandy Apolinar I donate direct on Sundays to an outdoor pantry. They set up tables for clothing, household items and Whole Foods supplies them with food. I used to donate to Goodwill till I saw them throwing out new items that just came in, and I asked the guy, “why?”... and he said because they get inundated with inventory.... !!! Made me so frustrated, so now I know when I donate it truly goes directly to the poor and struggling and sometimes I hear kids say as I drop off stuff, “Wow, I want that”, so I hand it to them. This way I know it’s truly appreciated.

Cool frame ,that big one, I'd love to have plus it was put back together,fixed and donated by someone special and quite famous in my book( since I dont watch tell(LIE)vision because I seek truth) and that's Steph & Steve,my go to dumpster divers of all time! Oh how I wished I'd been privy to you guys when our family stayed in California for three months for my husband's job and my daughter went to ride and race motocross! What fun! How do you dumpster dive? I did it today but I was getting card board boxes because I am moving. I wanted to search the other dumpsters but I was alone and people were staring at me just getting the card board boxes. Some of the dumpsters are extremely tall and I am short. I have to agree... Goodwill and Savers, they jack their prices up especially before sale or half-price days. Stevensteph, I'd rather see you sell the frames at one of your flea markets for a dollar or two each. That'd be a lot cheaper than what those other places are going to sell them for and people of low income really can't afford $5 or $8 for each item which is what all the so-called "charities"seem to be now for home decor and inexpensive clothing.

Its true, I am in SanDiego & used to Shop Goodwill but not anymore. Not only are their prices marked outrageously high but Goodwill employees mark expensive donations super low, hiding them & calling their relatives/friends to pick them up. Do not donate to Goodwill.

Depends on the thrift store. We try to donate to Angel View or The Assistance League mostly...but if we’re out and we need room for more, we’ll donate wherever is close if we see a place. At least it gets a chance somewhere to stay out of the landfill 😁

Gas in Michigan 2.89 for regular. We can fill our JEEP Grand Cherokee 40 dollars. Then I sometimes have fuel points from our grocery store and we can save 10 to 50 cents per gallon depending how much we spend in grocery each months.

Just had a thought that may or may not help.... u seem to hit a lot of dumpsters, You have 2 drivers, maybe it would be worth it to take the van and park it somewhere safe and ride around with the Prius but drop off stuff to the van? U guys usually find enough stuff where that might be worth it for u.... not sure if ur travel distance, etc. would make it pointless? In that case ignore this msg, lol just an idea. Good luck to u! Dee Krick I do similar garage sales tho, and u can list 3 items on eBay and make $100 let’s say. Then you can stand all day selling dollar items after the big items have sold and maybe make an extra $30 if u have boxes of dollar items. It really varies. If someone helps me do a garage sale, then I don’t mind the amount of hours. When I’m doing all the work, cleaning off the items if dusty with windex, setting up, constantly reorganizing the tables, talking a lot with fun ppl, which is the fun part too, going down the street every hour to make sure someone didn’t take my signs cause they r great garage sale signs, breaking down the tables, putting them away, donating the rest can add up to so much work. That’s why when I think dollar item I’d rather donate. Lol! But if you sell st a market with boxes of frames for $2 or $1, and tons of other dollar items it’s worth it at a market with heavy traffic. We don’t have open markets near me. They r far, otherwise I would love to unload stuff that way. Instead I bring to the open market for poor ppl on Sundays. Just easier and I’m glad they make use of it for free. Steph and Steve have to run out of space to store stuff too. So, u have to have a system. Mine is keeping things over $20 to sell on eBay and give the rest to the poor. Letgo is very slow to sell tho. Every town should do a one day a month outdoor sale. That would be fun.

Yes if we’ve got a yard sale or flea market planned we’ll start saving stuff up for it but if we don’t have one on the books we just donate to keep the hoarding to a minimum! 😆 it was getting out of control and we want to save the stuff and take it if we can! We started leaving some stuff behind because we had too much at home to sell and decided that we needed to change that. Donate on the way home if we can every day now. The burden is lifted and it’s freeing 🎉

That's a huge mess. Our gas here in Stephenville, Texas is $2.07 it takes $60 to fill up my Yukon Denali XL. I regret getting a big SUV lol
