This is definitely one of their lesser releases but it still looks great. Proportions needed to be slimmer, we needed a neutral face, and I'd definitely pay extra for the chain propeller weapon Also, come on guys. Y'all seen the film. We all know he has more ass than that.

Hey Steven, you can find a Playmates Skull Island Kong online dirt cheap. He comes with the chain and propeller. Works just fine. I use it on my SHM GBK Kong

You can army build much easier if they're cheap to buy, you could get 4-5 apes from Playmates for the price of 1 from Hiya. I honestly think they could just straight up repaint that K:SI Kong mold they did, it already looks more like another ape than Kong.

This figure looks amazing, being massively inaccurate aside. I really hope they get the likeness better with the new empire, which is undoubtedly coming. Im alao hoping we get 3 heads with that that include a calm head. I feel that was missing with this one. I'd love a 2.0 of this one with more accurate head sculpts juat like getting a remake gvk kong.

Gonna be honest, I feel many of the things that are given a pass would get absolutely railed if it was a Bandai product. I get the beef and their quality is bleh, but I feel like it’d be fair to say Hiya missed a bit with this figure

Nope, not on my end. Yes, it's inaccurate, and I think we absolutely get that and... We get that. Ok. The articulation, Hiya isn't as well in the engineering process and so forth as other companies, namely Bandai, so I would not expect Hiya's monke to hit the exact same poses. I supposed I was lighter on the eyes, but mine weren't too bad. I can't think of much else. It's a BIG step up from their '21 Kong and they responded to criticism on overall design philosophy. And it's $50 compared to $75

@@StevensToyReviews I for sure agree it’s a step up but the figure had a couple areas that were noticeable. Like the painted scars, you can see the lines where the paint is supposed to follow but is crooked. I also remember in your previous double review you gave a comment on Bandai using painted scars rather than creating texture for them in the sculpt. Kong’s eyes, which you did mention, are very wonky. Unless it was shadows being cast, it looked like his left pupil was massive compared to the right eye’s I feel like it’d be fair to point these out to highlight issues and also say it’s good for what it is rather than a direct pass if that makes sense. It comes off as being, for lack of a better word, petty to another company I promise I’m not trying to be mean or show any malice with the comments. You’re an excellent reviewer and incredibly reliable but the beef with Bandai is.. it’s beneath you for somebody of your talents

@wbhurt01 well for the scars the issue on the SHMA, they used painted instead of the sculpt *when they had the sculpted chest available.* that was already done. For whether the lines are done cleanly, I can't speak for other Hiya product as I don't collect them, but I believe this is the first, or one of, to use the dot printing for paint apps. Even Tamashii struggled hard for the first 2 or so years, so while it's not perfect, that shows they're working to get uniform paint apps moving forward. The thing is, here, you have to look at *everything* and not just one or two things and say well that's comparable so You're petty. This Kong is much more affordable with, albeit not accurate, a great sculpt, paint apps that look great (eyes can vary, I guess we won't agree on the chest), and accessories are solid but could use more. US retail is $50. The SHMA GxK is.... The same with a new coat of paint which fixed none of the sculpt and paint issues, and even for a "base form," it's inaccurate when they've been sitting on the CGI info for 3+ years. It's also $75.

That's completely out of context my friend. And no, it objectively doesn't. They didn't base it off of anything except the skeleton of the design. They didn't use the face, fur patterns, anything. Likewise, I noted this isn't accurate.
