A lot of searching is right and the bigger the ledges are and the more of them there are it could involve more searching in most cases because not all ledges are created equal the fish might only come to the ledge at certain times of the day and at certain times of the year so you got to find the fish before you can catch them unless you know the water and know where the ledges are searching is definitely gonna take up some of your time. Great video it's about that time of year for me to start fishing ledges more.

Hey I live on houghton lake in Michigan and I caught a 6.5 lb smallmouth while ledge fishing. But ledge fishing is also the only kind of fishing on houghton lake because the shallows are to shallow and are only sand so you have to fish small deeper holes or large ledges

That is awesome you have a lot of experience ledge fishing. Nice big bass too! That is a great size fish you caught. Michigan is one of my favorite places to fish. Wonderful bass fishing there.

Awesome video My question is on boat positioning. Do you cast parallel to the break, or cast to the shallower water and work to the deep...or does it require a combination of the two? Tried searching for schools on Barkley yesterday but apparently I was doing it all wrong. Lol Looks like I need to make another trip!

That is an excellent question. When searching I do my best to parallel the break. I feel it helps me keep the lure down in the zone for a longer period of time. When I locate fish, and eventually the bite slows down, then I will change angles and try to get the school fired up again.

Tugging at the ol heart strings when you have these structure type videos, have you done any “offshore” when, where, why and how videos?

Not covering all those topics in one video. I need to. That's a good one! Thanks!

@@SteveRogersOutdoors Not saying you have to do it in one video, I know a lot of the industry likes to keep them short but informative, personally I could watch a lengthy video on such a subject. I enjoy your content, I am binge watching as much as I can to get caught up, I thought I would ask to see if you had, looking forward to seeing more, have a great day !!!

Thanks Steve. You mentioned current was good. The two lakes I live on have a few great ledges, but not flowing water? Does wind generate enough current to make a difference? If so am I looking for wind that parallels the ledge, blows off or onto it? Fortunately we have several ledges so one should be good for almost any wind direction.
@SteveRogersOutdoors4 жыл бұрын
Wind definitely can be enough to make an impact. I would focus on wind that parallels the ledge.

I meant to add earlier, you ask some amazing questions. Thank you for that!
