Thank you for the Tom Rush shout out. No Regrets is a gorgeous song. His versions of the Circle Game and Urge for Going opened many musical doors for me.

I like the Giles Martin reissues as an add on to what was originally released. Giles didnt set out to better the originals per se. Sgt. Peppers, Revolver are really good. The 2nd lp of outtakes from Peppers is worth the purchase alone. The remastering sounds good and is interesting to listen to the way it's mixed.

Great diverse and insightful discussion, guys! Worth following. I tend to agree with the assumption that Mob Fids business under the current ownership has been built on the illusion of scarcity and of other illusions as we recently learned. Not worth entrusting them parts of the wallet any longer regardless of how their reissues sound. Acoustic Sounds has realized long time ago that honesty and continuity always wins and this is why they are wiping the competition floor with Mob Fid. PS to @ghborden: I like the MFSL Beatles Stereos from the 80s a lot too. Equally rightful in existence as the Monos from the box.

Hey Steve!! Awesome Roundtable!! I really do wish the whole analog v.s digital debacle would stop.....and stop being mentioned even when talking about albums. It needs to be put to bed and laid to rest. It has absolutely no merit when comparing sound sound these days. I have no regrets when buying....especially when it comes to sound but I will tell you?? I have major regrets over bad presssings with surface noise and ticks and/or pops. Ok, a few here and there for the obvious nature of the beast but sound is really great these days. It's the quality of the pressings that TRULY needs to be addressed these days. Happy Thanksgiving Weekend Steve to you and your Family. Behave!! :) Darrin

Thanks so much Darrin. Im looking forward to some turkey. Yes it really is and should mine all about the music. The whole digital vs analogue debate is growing old. There’s so many quality pressings from both now. It’s a great time to love vinyl.

@@stevewestman7774 Steve?? I want you to "listen" to me very carefully ok?? You're an "audiophile" channel. And you have achieved so much in the your past videos I have seen from you in the last year. I want you to know.....between you, and George?? You are among only 4 people I respect and trust for shootouts when it comes to albums. The reason being is because you do NOT cast judgement on analog v.s digital. There are only two other guys besides you and George that never judge and they give honest reviews and that includes "digitally cut" (or dare I say digitally mastered) albums. That speaks volumes because the definition of an audiophile is seeking out the best possible sound whether through format and/or equipment. Audiophile is NOT defined as "analog only" and people need to get that through their thick heads. I love and respect your channel. I am always so looking forward to Friday's. Peace Brother!!

As to regrets, out of curiosity I re-bought some German and Dutch 1st pressings of records from the 70s and 80s with UK or US country of music origin, e.g. Pink Floyd‘s Atom Heart Mother, which I liked back then, and to my today’s ears they sound horrible (although still in NM condition). Remorse!

I have a question for you: You mentioned that Mofi would never reissue the Santana one step, which is probably correct. However, on the Mofi website they have reissued the one step of the Nightfly. WTH? Granted it is $350, but that is better than $600 and up on the used market. If you had to guess, why do you think they did this? Let’s hope Santana and Yes are on the road map as well
@stevewestman7774 Жыл бұрын
I am not aware of MOFI ever reissuing the Nightfly and I can 100% tell you they did not. It was sold out years ago and will not be repressed. Where ever you saw it listed for $350 was a copy from when it was first released and was being resold. I assume you may have seen it on the Acoustic Sounds or Music Direct website it would not have been posted on the MOFI site.

Steve, Bro... You honestly really need to STOP so strongly dissing the Stereo Beatles Box Set. Okay, so YOU won't listen to it again, but on my system, at least the first several records sound awesome! Even Fremer said that the early albums sounded 'pretty good', but dude you talk about them like they sound like the Queen box set or something (shout out to Patrick there 😊) The Stereo Box is NOT that terrible, okay? Some have said that there may be some issue with I think it was Abbey Road due to its sound. Just like SO many people praise the 'Blue Box' All the Blue Box is is a mishmash of whatever pressings were on the shelf around the mid 1980's... Big deal... I have an early UK 2 Box Parlophone Revolver, probably pressed in around 1971 - 1973 or so with the original Gramophone rimtext. It is obviously all analog and likely tube cut. Now IT sounds amazing, and you can get those for like $30 - $40 or so in good shape. I compared it to the one in the Stereo Box, and you know, the one in the box sounded pretty damn good. So PLEASE, Steve, especially as a Beatles fan, please stop just overtly dismissing the Stereo Box because I promise you, overall it is not a bad set.
