I think it was less about the mother and more about being genuinely shocked and a moment of denial. It took me a few minutes to process what my daughter told me. While I reported immediately and her dad was arrested the following day, I knew she was telling the truth, I was still partially in denial for a couple of months. While most absolutely want to protect their kids, and many do report it, there is a period of denial- it's part of the grieving process. Towards the end of this episode, it looked like she was listening to Steve and she did say she was going to get to the bottom of it and figure it out making sure it didn't also happen to her girls. I hope for her sake and her kids sake, she does. I hope she wasn't involved, but she seemed sincere at that point.
