@@SteveWillisACCA Thankyou Sir. However Sir i have a small query regarding questions of Financial Assessment of performance of an organisation.
@Saffron_Kidd Жыл бұрын
@@SteveWillisACCA Sir as we measure the % change in the cost from one year to another, it is quite obvious that since there has been a change in Sales Revenue (or Activity Level) the cost is also expected to increase. So shouldn't we rather firstly calculate the % of cost in relation to the Sale Revenue (i.e. Cost Margin) for each year and then measure the % change from one year to another. Hope you have understood my question and would help me out 🙏🏻
@SteveWillisACCA Жыл бұрын
Interesting question! Yes, the 'cost as a percent of sales' measure is relevant as you want to focus your discussion on most significant costs. But it's not required as an additional calculation for earning a mark when making a point about an expense changing. Remember it's important to include cost behavior in your discussion as well. It's a different issue if a fixed or variable cost is increasing.

Hi Steve, thankyou for this video, it was super helpful! Please could you explain where you got the 3.8% drop and 74% drop figures in the changes in margins? Thanks 😊
@SteveWillisACCA3 жыл бұрын
Hi Grace, the 3.8% is 50/52 - 1 : the drop in %, not percentage points. For example, when system downtime in the next part goes from 2% to 4%, this is a 100% increase, not a 2% increase. 4/2 - 1 = 100%. You could say system downtime increased 2 percentage points but that doesn't tell you about the importance of the change. Make sense?

@@SteveWillisACCA perfect, this makes sense now, thankyou so much for explaining. I also watched your lecture with ACCA and found it extremely helpful, so thankyou!

Hi Steve. I've watched so many of your videos to help me with my upcoming PM exam. I'm now overthinking the format of the answers, I have been using your table format for all performance evaluation questions I've practiced but for a 20 mark 'discuss the performance' question... the model answer is written out in paragraphs. So now I'm unsure if I can use the table format for these big mark questions, could you please advise?
@SteveWillisACCA Жыл бұрын
Hi, you can absolutely use the table tool--there are no extra marks for it, nor any taken away for not using it. As long as your numbers can be understood you'll get the calc marks, and if they understand your write-up, you'll get the discussion marks. But using a table will keep you organized and more aware of time elapsing. I recommend using the table.

Hi, Mr.steve thanks for the support and am getting confused that in section C question they say that they need in paragraph not in tabular form , so what to do. should i follow the tabular approach when the question is asking both discussion and calculation or i can also use tabular approach when full 20 marks are for discussion only.

Dear Steve, why did you write -1 in the workings of some ratios?
@SteveWillisACCA2 жыл бұрын
Just to show the %. For example, 11/10=1.10 you can see that's a 10% increase, but if you subtract 1, you get 0.10 the 10%. Either way you get the same marks if you interpret it as a 10% increase. Likewise, 9/10-1=-10%.

@SteveWillisACCA2 жыл бұрын
Hello, it depends on your strengths--I recommend doing easier things first. If you did well on FA and know your debits/credits well, start with FR. But if you did better on MA--I'd suggest you do PM first. I personally did the PM equivalent first back when I did the exams.

@SteveWillisACCA Жыл бұрын
It depends on what you write. If you say, "Admin costs are up 50%. This is a concern because admin costs are usually fixed. Maybe the owners broke their promise and took their salary increase early." you would get a mark. If you said. "We see admin costs went up 50%. Admin costs are usually fixed." No mark, the second example is not evaluation.

If it does not require to show working, should we show it anyway?
@SteveWillisACCA2 жыл бұрын
It's a good idea to show your workings so you can get partial credit if your result is wrong, this is called 'own figure rule.' But if your result is correct, you get the credit with or without the working.
