When someone of Buddy Guy's stature as a Blues guitarist and calls you his best friend and requests that you join him on-stage to jam with him, you know you've arrived!!

I want to hold my toungue with the "imagine if he was still...", and just thank God he ever was. Crazy to think I was 6 years old when my life's hero would leave this world. Thank you SRV. I was fortunate enough to meet Robert Cray in San Diego one time, (one of the classiest, nicest human beings I've ever met) and he was at the Alpine Valley show. To hear a true bluesman talk about the world changing, and the greatest departing was something else, the respect he had for Stevie. Reading Buddy's book recently made me think the same thing... There is only one Stevie Ray Vaughn, but he will play on forever.

This is the greatest electric blues performance ever recorded. If you are familiar with these gentlemen's tone, you will hear the greatest electric guitar maestro of all time mentoring the greatest guitar player who ever lived. Calling this a master piece is like saying the roof of the Sistine Chapel could use a little more blue.

I never had the pleasure of hearing SRV live, but I saw Buddy Guy several times around the Bay Area of Calif. during most of the '70's in that area, the Blues were not popular, except a few of us. There was one Blues Club in Oakland. Some of the best blues were played at Elies'. Ron Thompson, who won the Bammie for best blues guitarist 3 years in a row, could be heard sing in little dives & Computer Company parties. By the '80's everyone claimed to being an Elieqregular. lol I only saw 2 light skinned people during the '70's. Me & my one friend brave enough to go to Elies. I saw Buddy, for the first time, at the first Bay Area Blues Festival in San Francisco. It was free (in Golden Gate Park) and only a few showed up. BB was there too. One of the best concerts ever!!
