This is an illegal bootleg of a recording that I made personally, with Stevie's permission and with Stubb's perimssion, using a large mono reel-to-reel with a mic hung fro the ceiling over the stage. It took place during his first gig there (c. 1976). I will not share more information. This would have earned me enough so that I would not be struggling in my senior years to keep a roof over my head. A few years later when I was living on the outskirts of Austin, Stevie had a gig at the nearly racetrack. I had run off a cassette copy of the show - about 90 minutes - and was able to give it to Stevie's roadie, who promised to give it to him. The following year, a month before the release of his first album, Stevie told me that he had never received the tape. I was really pissed at that thieving roadie. Still am. I have lots more info, including the band members and many stories, but after this rip-off I am ill disposed to sharing them for any postings of this recording. One thing I can say is that this is from the Saturday show. It's been 40 years since that tape was stolen. I have no further claims on it. No way to put that horse back into the barn.

First of all, super cool that you were able to see Stevie during these earliest years... 1976 is way early... as for the story of the thieving roadie... that's not cool... I can only assume Stevie hadn't yet established himself properly enough to surround himself with trustworthy people? It sounds like you might want me to take this down, although the full bootleg was found elsewhere on youtube and I just cut out this song... otherwise thank you for sharing this info and I can only say hope things turn out OK for you...

Bet Your Sorry You didn't make extra copies huh? Lesson Learned. Stevie says: "Trust Nobody, Don't be no Fool!" ( Crossfire) Maybe, there were other people besides JFairweather, who also taped the show and as a result, we have a brilliant bootleg!
