Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double Trouble were on my TV show (in 1989) that aired on channel 32 in Tampa, Florida. The show had a 14 million cumulative audience and had
been airing SRV videos for a few years prior. So Epic records granted us the interview.
Stevie was opening up for Jeff Beck and he was in a great mood. We hung out all day and after the show. I got to play his guitar and rig and had a fun time. We were in contact occasionally after this interview and had made plans for him to return on the show in Sept. 1990.

Man I miss him a lot! and can't help but wonder just how much more music he would've made and how much more bigger the blues scene would be. just look at what all he did up until then! and of course is the only person I know that truly got sober and went back playing and living better then ever! just shows it is possible, if you really love something and want something bad enough. RIP legend.

Thank you for this video! I just now stumbled upon it. I am 61 years old and of course was and still am blown away by SVR and Double Trouble. Just a few days ago I played some SRV in remembrance of his untimely passing. It brought back so much. Especially Life Without You. Being older now and having lost my husband to addiction, I could understand everything Stevie was trying to convey. How much he hurt inside and how much a helping hand meant. Through one show when he spoke his heart about lifting people up when down he was high as hell. That does not mean he wasn't still hurting. I saw another performance of this when he cleaned up and believe he still meant every word. Having an addict that I loved I took on Stevie's pain 29 YEARS later. I wish people would understand addiction. I am thankful my promoter husband was truthful about the pain that lead him to substance abuse at age 11. We both loved Stevie. I learned a lot from Paul ( husband). Through it all he was truthful about not being able to live life on lifes terms. He did clean up a few times. I don't even know why I felt the need to write this. I just did. I woke up to tears as I took on the pain. I wanted to say thank you again for this comfortable and well conducted interview. All looked cool, relaxed and happy to be there. I am sure you will remember this always. Thank you!

Pablo Pérez - Stevie's guitar was difficult to play. He had switched to lighter strings at the time (he used to use 13's - he had 12's on) but the action was much higher than I would want. He was tuned to Eb so that helped a little. The most interesting thing was that playing thru his rig - my tone sounding nothing like SRV's. I experienced the same thing playing Eric Johnson's gear. Proof that MOST tone comes from one's hands!

Mr Pachelli, I stumbled across your channel recently and I absolutely love your Beatles lessons and the hard work and dedication you put into them. But I am even more impressed by this video. SRV has always been my all time fav blues player and one of my fav guitarist. And for you to sit down and talk so candidly with Stevie and the band must of been so cool. Jeff Beck and SRV on the same bill must have been a show for the ages. I will keep following your videos maybe a little treasure like this one will show up on my feed again. Peace.

Awesome. Two of my favorite guitarist on the same day. I saw Jeff beck in 2000 as a teenager but sadly never got to see Stevie. Passed when I was 9 yrs old. Beck was always a technical wizard and SRV was an unstoppable blues force of nature. Their music has always given me a lot of joy and inspiration.

A man, standing beside me, looked to be in his late 50's? He relayed to me: "Who in the world is that?!" I just stood there, eyes Blinking..a LOT! I left after that. I think it’s BS we can’t find one video or decent recording of the Alpine Valley show right be fore he died. I know it has to be video’s and good recordings. I’m sure it has something to do with money somehow. Any ideas I’d love to hear it. I’ve been searching for a long time with not one result. Shameful really. It’s interesting that his last song was “Sweet Home Chicago“ and he died otw to Chicago.
