During the coarse of this song, he changes guitar, drops and picks pick up, tuning amps/equipment multiple times, gives a motivational speech, plays behind his back, plays with his teeth, loses a tooth and looks for it all while playing and not missing a beat. SRV wasn't human. The GOAT

SRV didn't drop and pick up his pick. He was adjusting the wah wah pedal at his feet. If he had dropped his pick, extras are by the microphone on the mic stand.

@@Sometimes-even-lyrical If this was anyone else they would have stopped the show. The first axe was Lenny and something died in it so he was set up w/ the other axe but it wasn't intended to be used for this song. So then he had to adjust everything by what looks like the overdrive pedal and then turning up the gain of both amps. Then while playing w/ his teeth he breaks a tooth.... Any one of these problems could be enough but SRV is a soldier!

Wrote the song for his friend & guitar tech Charley Wirz, after his passing. The guitar he plays was built by Charley & fittingly named Charley. It's the one he uses when playing the song for him.

He was channeling Charlie through his instrument. That’s why after he loses his tooth he laughs and says “Thanks Charlie” into the mic. He totally surrendered himself to all the love he had his heart for his friend and brought him back to life through his music.

Stevie Ray's picks were on the side of his microphone, alot of people think he dropped his pick but he's adjusting his wah-pedal that actually belonged to Jimi Hendrix who gave it to Jimmy Vaughan when he played at a venue and Jimi Hendrix was playing, Jimmy Vaughan broke his wah-pedal and Jimi Hendrix gave Jimmy Vaughan his wah-pedal and gave it to his little brother Stevie Ray. Drummer Chris Layton and basses Tommy Shannon said Stevie Ray had a really good ear and could hear the littlest thing and always fixed it himself, true genius, their has never has been nor will there ever be anotherStevieRayVaughan. With thatsaidat the age of 14 my son asked me for a guitar and he started to watch Stevie Ray videos and in 6 months he could play behind his head and back also his teeth and he never learned to read music either, he did play at a few places and people lost their minds but he never really done anything with his music and it makes me sad.. STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN WAS AND WILL ALWAYS BE THE GOAT.

Was 40 miles from the crashsight when it occurred. A little after 3AM the radio announced... Clapton, Cray, and Stevie were all on board...My heart sunk to depths unknown. After 4AM, correction as to the crash was made. In a heavy fog, after an outdoor concert at Alpine Valley, said Clapton&Cray were Not on that chopper. This song, Life without you, was then played by that radio station... We all still miss you Stevie, thanks for all the tunes. Fly on, my friend!

Yes a truly beautiful song, I can't listen without dropping a few tears for my own losses, two of my beautiful brothers. And sometimes, the best cure for the blues IS the Blues. Especially when it comes from within Stevie Ray. Had to laugh though when you said, 'he's teaching that guitar how to play'. Never heard it put that way but true. Also, yes swagger is something SRV had plenty of being a showman, not a showoff. Great reaction. More more more Stevie!! We must all keep him alive, we owe him for everything he's given us. ☮️ to all

👏🙌‼️so happy to see you get to our most favorite one🎸🎶💙. He was such a humble, real, and loving man. His music and his messages are timeless and has already stood the test of many decades since we lost this magical music man. This song he wrote was for his friend Charley Wirz, a Dallas guitar shop owner who passed away unexpectedly. That white guitar he switched to was put together out of parts by Charley and that is the guitar's name. So when he drops down most people do assume he dropped a pick but he is adjusting his foot pedals. He always had extra picks on the mic stand. And when he spent so much time adjusting his amps but you didn't hear any difference was because later when he is holding a single note for a long time is when he needed that "sustain" and ability to play with the feedback keeping it in tune with the melody. I'm sure there is someone who could give you a more technical explanation but that is the gist of it. He had such an incredible ear that one time in the recording studio he kept saying he was hearing a slight hum that no one else could hear. Finally a machine was used to find and correct the hum he was hearing. His ear played a big part in his learning to play the guitar starting at age 7. He would listen to all the blues greats over and over and found if he could make those same sounds with his mouth he could find them on the guitar. He never did learn to read music, he was too busy just being the music. As far as "reactions" go, there are many different ways to react without using words. Facial expressions and smiles can say it all for you. (and thanks for dropping less F bombs) He spent his last years and time helping and encouraging people to choose sobriety and what rewards they will enjoy if they do. He shared his personal struggles and the tools he used to be a successful sober person. Even today people are still inspired by his life story and credit him with their own hard won battles and sobriety. He is still larger than life to those of us who have loved and admired him for so many more things than simply being the best musician ever to pick up an axe to delight and amaze us. There is still lots you haven't seen and we are all looking forward to future discoveries from you. There are so many recommendations to offer. MTV Unplugged has him playing 3 songs playing a 12 string acoustic guitar which is 🔥. There is a 18 minute "soundcheck" where he just rolled out of bed, yawning and rubbing his eyes, dressed so fly. But when he straps in he takes off. A real nice behind the scenes look that has over 21 million views! I most enjoy his own material he wrote best though. I don't think you have done Ain't Gone 'N' Give Up On Love from this same venue and time. Make yourself comfortable, this is the best rabbit hole to fall into and such great company you will find. 👏🙌🌟💫⭐️💙🎸🎶

Thankyou ...LOVE this song & Stevie was certainly the GOAT with his unique style and sound...Elvis had his God given voice & SRV had his God given fingers that could bend a guitar to do anything he wanted, both hits the soul, both had unique swagger & style yet humble...both taken too soon...unfortunately for whatever reason SRV is still fairly unknown and that's a crime! Glad youve found him...like Elvis...live is the only way to go....mesmerising to watch and no words can describe the feelings both convey in their artistry....some may say a strange comparison but i see many similarities ...we're lucky to have videos to watch...i cant imagine how i'd feel seeing Stevie (or Elvis) perform live in front of me!!! "The Band - The Last Waltz - The Weight feat. the Staple Singers" and you are correct this is the blues... to be specific Stevie Ray Vaughan was a "Texas Bluesman" I thought I heard you mention something about losing someone...if that's accurate...I'm sorry for your loss I send healing hugs and prayers 🙏💖 Take care and have a bless day

i got to see him in Austin a long time ago. Every now and then there are those people that come along that have the touch. they didn't learn it, they felt it. I feel it's like every Artist, it's their art, their interpretation their vision. SRV was a guy who was influenced by nothing that the Delta in Mississippi doesn't have as Blues it's just he was born in Texas and it influenced him in his style and his interpretation. Also known as the Texas Blues.

Sorry for your loss it's terrible to go through. This song is amazing. First seen him when I was 17 at the Elmocambo in Toronto, (check it out ) and was hooked because I loved Jimmy Hendrix. Seen many shows after that though out life. Seen him front row at a tiny outdoor venue in upstate NY with another great Texas blues guitarist Johnny Winter opening. last song he did was Voodoo child by Jimmy two weeks later he was killed in the Helicopter. I feel fortunate to have seen him along with most of the greats .

You cannot go wrong with ANY Stevie Ray Vaughan song. He never played a song the same way twice, so even if you've watched him play a song, you're gonna get an entirely different experience when you watch different videos of the same songs. You should treat yourself and watch him perform "Look at Little Sister ". Then, treat yourself again, and watch Jeff Healey and Stevie Ray Vaughan perform "Look at Little Sister ". Completely different experience, but you wouldn't want to miss either one. Just subbed. 👌😘💕💯🎸🥳💣💥

Joe Bonamassa is a current artist, arguably, who may be considered close to the talent level of SRV (Toured with BB King at 14 years of age), but he plays a different style of blues....... a lot more rock-n-roll style of blues IMO. Yes, the KB player, Reese Wynans is a GOAT. He now plays with Joe Bonamassa. If u r not familiar with JB may I suggest: Troubletown, Breaking Up Somebodys Home, I'll Play the Blues For You, What I've Known For a Very Long Time, I Gave Up Everything, Angel of Mercy are just a few........ the rabbit hole is DEEP! By all means jump on in, you won't regret it. Great reaction, TY.

SRV is one of the GOATs in my book. This live performance is a masterpiece. Yes, he dropped his pick. And if you notice at the very beginning he started with a red guitar. He either didn't like the sound of it, or he broke a string. My guess is he broke a string. He broke a lot of strings, even though he played with strings as big as the cables on the Brooklyn Bridge. That also gave him his unique sound. Eric Clapton said he tried to play one of SRV guitars and he couldn't, because of how big his strings were. In any case, he changed from a red guitar to a white guitar SRV called Charlie. He played it through the vocal, but when he came to the solo he made adjustments. It may not have been tuned to his liking. And then he put on the greatest performance I have ever seen. But that is just me. I also heard that when Stevie got done playing, his guitar had to have a cigarette. I don't always listen to SRV, but when I do, my neighbors do too. In my book, there are two people alive today that are worthy to be in SRV's class. One is Eric Clapton, of course, and the other is Joe Bonamassa. Joe and Eric are pretty damn good on the guitar, but not quite SRV, in my book. In this video, Clapton and Bonamassa jam together. Don't get real excited and expect some SRV kind of guitar work. This is simply two great guitar players that are alive today. Oh yea, yellow car: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nmbEh35tZbVrbs0

If I had to guess at what Stevie was doing with those knobs, and I don't pretend to actually know, I'd say he was trying to get those amplifiers to feedback more. Get that drone going for this song. For pure rock-n-roll, Joe Satriani still bends the stings and makes strange beautiful sounds with his guitar. If you want artsy, or, more correctly, entertainment-styled guitar playing, then Steve Vai. There's tons of blues guitarists around too such as, Joe Bonamassa. Joe plays the stage oldschool, generally with suit & tie, like the original blues players played it back in the day. But he can jam like anyone that's ever done it.

You asked about a guitarist who's as good as Stevie... to put it in prospective, even Eric Clapton said HE gets lost playing and has to sometime stop and figure where else he wants to go in the music, but he said Stevie NEVER had that problem - that he was an open channel to the music! Oh, told you there was a message in this performance that we still hadn't learned yet! There IS an up and coming guitarist named Taj Farrant who MAY one day get this good... he's TWELVE, and he's damn good now! Look him up here on KZbin. He started out playing at seven.

Eric Clapton once said he was very glad he never had to follow up a SRV act (Paraphrased). SRV was the GOAT then and is the GOAT today...... STILL (mho).

@@glennburch1081 He was ABSOLUTELY the GOAT, and I'm so glad he's still touching lives and inspiring musicians all these years later. I really wish that the music "industry" had paid him (and Chris, Tommy, and Reese) just dues while he was still living. I think they would have if he'd been straight up rock-n- roll instead of a blues man - the blues have always seemed to get short shift when it came to recognition of the "mainstream" That man opened his soul when he played and poured it out to us to see and HEAR when he did it. He never demanded us to pick up what he was laying down; he was such a humble man. I miss him.

I remember the day he died. I was an aspiring guitarist and had attached to him big time. Then bam. He was gone. Devastated me. RIP SRV...just some constructive criticism.... You don't "have to curse". It'll hurt your channel in the long run.

He did not drop his pick. He keeps a tray full of them close by. In the very beginning he changed guitars, he didnt like the sound, reaching down was making adjustments, still didnt like it, went to the amps...

I looked at most of the comments. Reese Wynans is on the keyboards. He's done Somme solos with Stevie that are as amazing as Stevie. I saw someone mentioned bassist Tommy Shannon his best friend who went into rehab at the same time as Stevie in the fall of 1986. Tommy played at Woodstock with Johnny Winter. Chris Layton the drummer was with Stevie the longest and after Stevie passed became very close to Tommy. Tommy always wanted people to know that as great as Stevie was on the guitar was as humble generous and ki d a soul Stevie was. Stevie helped many people to sobriety including Bonnie Rait.

Joe Bonamassa is today’s best guitarist. Derek Trucks is there too. Warren Haynes. That’s my picks of guitarists close to this level of talent.
